Guide your heroes through the Pinnacle of Light in Dragon Quest Heroes! Learn strategies to defeat the Marquis de Leon, defend against monster waves, and utilize teleporters.
Alright, so you've discovered Aurora's true identity and now it's time to head for the Pinnacle of Light to meet the Goddess! You've got Doric and the rest of the crew with you, so let's get this ascent started.
Shortly after you begin, you'll run into these things called teleportals. They're not super common or complex, but they're your main way of getting around this area. Just hop through the first one to kick off the next part: defending a door from monsters.
The tower itself is pretty straightforward, more like a series of spiral staircases than a sprawling complex. Think of the floor you start on as Floor 1. Your objective is on Floor 2, and it's already under attack! Mawkeepers on Floors 1 and 3 are sending monsters your way. You can't deal with the Floor 1 mawkeeper just yet, so focus on moving up.
Once you reach the top, you'll face two mawkeepers and a stone golem. Taking down the stone golem is key because it'll activate the teleportal at the top, letting you reach that pesky mawkeeper on Floor 1 who's been sending reinforcements to your tower door. After you've dealt with that, the tower door you defended will open up, letting you finally reach your destination.
An Elevating Experience
Your next big task is to reach the top floor of the Pinnacle of Light, which has already been infiltrated by Velasco's forces. You'll be making your way up while fighting off an unending stream of enemies!
This part is a defense mission, but it's actually simpler than some others. Instead of monsters constantly spawning from multiple points, they'll come in waves from outside the map borders whenever the elevator stops. This gives you a nice breather between fights. Don't bother trying to hit enemies outside the map; they're untouchable.
If you're not quite used to fighting hacksauruses yet, remember to block just before they unleash their roar. It's a solid way to mitigate their damage.
Keep an eye out in the small room to the south – you can find some handy items there, like attack boosters, items that instantly fill your tension gauge, and potions to refill your magic.
A Furocious Trespusser
You've made it to the highest floors of the Pinnacle, and the Oracle and the Goddess are just within reach! But first, you've got to defeat the Marquis de Leon.
There are a few containers scattered around the corners of this map. Make sure to check them for tension boosters; they can be a lifesaver.
The Marquis de Leon has a few nasty tricks up his sleeve. Watch out for his cold breath attack, which is telegraphed by a blue aura appearing under his feet right before he throws his head back. He also does a series of quick, stationary swings. Honestly, though, most of his attacks are pretty manageable if you can keep circling behind him.
When he drops to half health, he'll stun you with a loud bellow and summon two mawkeepers. These guys drop pink sanguinis, which are super useful for quickly filling up your tension meter, so don't hesitate to take them down!
At 25% health, he'll pull the same stun-and-summon trick, bringing out two more mawkeepers.
Improving on Perfection 3
Just a heads-up, you can increase the number of monster minion slots you have available by taking down a stone golem. It's a nice little boost for later.
To Bag a Bigger Bag 2
And if you need more space for your gear, you can increase your equipment item carrying capacity by defeating a hell gladiator, a king slime, and a troll.
