Tockles and Pastwords

Tockles are special, elusive creatures that play a significant role in Dragon Quest XI S, particularly in accessing unique content and earning achievements. These small, whimsical beings are linked to the game's 'Pastwords,' which allow you to travel to different worlds inspired by previous Dragon Quest titles.

You'll first encounter a Tockle early in your journey, after learning the Zoom spell. This initial encounter introduces you to Tickington, a hub world where you'll interact with Tockles and use Pastwords. To progress with Tockles, you need to find 'Pastwords,' which are essentially codes that unlock access to specific dungeons or areas within Tickington.

Each Tockle you find will give you a Pastword. These Pastwords are then used to access 'The First Hero's' world, and subsequently, the worlds of previous Dragon Quest games. The goal is to find all 25 Tockles and collect all the associated Pastwords. This often involves completing side quests or solving puzzles within Tickington and its connected worlds.

The Tockle side quest is a substantial undertaking that requires thorough exploration of Tickington and its various themed areas. As you collect Pastwords, you'll unlock new challenges and opportunities to acquire powerful equipment and items that are otherwise unobtainable. The Tockles themselves are often found in hidden or hard-to-reach locations.
