If you embarked near a 'Volcano' or found a 'Magma Sea' deep underground, you can channel this molten rock to power 'Magma Forges' (b-w-f) and 'Magma Smelters' (b-w-s) without needing 'Charcoal'. Magma can also be used to create devastating 'Magma Traps' (d-h) against invaders.
