The Path to Leyndell — Elden Ring Walkthrough
The path to Leyndell, Royal Capital, represents a significant turning point in Elden Ring's narrative and progression, marking the transition from the early-game regions to the heart of the Lands Between. This journey involves overcoming formidable challenges, exploring vast territories, and defeating key demigods to gather the Great Runes necessary to enter the capital.
Your journey to Leyndell typically begins after you have acquired at least two Great Runes. The primary path involves navigating through the Altus Plateau, a region filled with new enemies, dungeons, and secrets. Accessing the Altus Plateau itself can be achieved in a few ways: either by using the Grand Lift of Dectus, which requires collecting two halves of the Dectus Medallion, or by taking a more perilous route through the dangerous Ravine-Veiled Village.
Once in the Altus Plateau, you'll encounter new threats like the imposing Leyndell Knights and the formidable Lesser Erdtree Avatars. The landscape is dotted with various points of interest, including the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge, the Abandoned Cave (home to the 'Seppuku' Ash of War), and the Minor Erdtree. The plateau is also home to the Golden Lineage Evergaol, which contains the Ancestral Spirit.
The main objective in this phase is to defeat the formidable boss Morgott, the Omen King, who guards the entrance to Leyndell. However, to even reach Morgott, you must first acquire the necessary Great Runes. The most common path involves defeating Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, in the Academy of Raya Lucaria (Liurnia of the Lakes), and Starscourage Radahn in Caelid. Alternatively, you can defeat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, in Volcano Manor.
Key steps and locations on the path to Leyndell:
- Acquire Two Great Runes: Typically from Rennala and Radahn, or other demigods.
- Reach the Altus Plateau: Via the Grand Lift of Dectus (requires Dectus Medallion halves) or the Ravine-Veiled Village.
- Explore the Altus Plateau: Discover Sites of Grace, defeat enemies, and find optional dungeons.
- Navigate to Leyndell, Royal Capital: The path is guarded by Morgott, the Omen King.
Within the Altus Plateau, you'll find valuable items and Spirit Ashes, such as the 'Great Horned Tragoth' Spirit Ash. The journey to Leyndell is a testament to your growth as a Tarnished. It requires a solid understanding of combat, effective use of your Flasks, and the ability to adapt to new environmental hazards and enemy types. The capital itself is a vast and intricate area, filled with lore and challenging encounters that will test your mastery of Elden Ring's mechanics.
