Speedrunning Tips
For those looking to conquer Land's End with unparalleled swiftness, Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights offers a thrilling speedrunning challenge. This guide focuses on an Any% route, prioritizing critical path progression and essential upgrades to minimize clear time. Mastery of movement, precise combat, and strategic spirit usage are paramount.
General Strategies for Any%
- Movement is Key: Always be moving. use Lily's dodge roll for quick bursts of speed and to bypass minor enemies. Once acquired, the White Priestess's dash (obtained after defeating the White Priestess in the White Parish) is crucial for covering distances quickly and maintaining momentum.
- Efficient Combat: Focus on boss fights and necessary enemy encounters. For regular enemies, learn which ones can be safely ignored or dodged around. Prioritize spirits that offer high damage or area-of-effect attacks to clear groups quickly.
- Skip Unnecessary Items: Unless an item is explicitly mentioned in this guide as essential for the route, assume it can be skipped. This includes most Relics, Skill upgrades for spirits not used, and many collectible items.
- Exploit I-frames: Lily's dodge roll and certain spirit attacks provide invincibility frames (i-frames). Learn the timing to phase through attacks and even some environmental hazards.
Early Game: White Parish to Veridian Hamlet
Your initial goal is to acquire essential movement and combat abilities.
- White Parish Start:
- Immediately proceed right, defeating the first few enemies.
- Acquire the Gerrod, the Elder Warrior spirit. Gerrod's heavy attack is excellent for breaking enemy poise and dealing significant damage.
- Continue through the White Parish, aiming directly for the White Priestess boss fight.
- Boss: White Priestess. Defeating her grants you the White Priestess spirit, which is your primary movement ability for the rest of the run. Practice using her dash to traverse gaps and speed past enemies.
- Transition to Veridian Hamlet:
- After defeating the White Priestess, head towards the Veridian Hamlet.
- Your main objective here is to reach the Dark Knight spirit. He's located in the upper-right section of the Hamlet. His rapid, multi-hit attack is invaluable for boss damage.
- Consider a quick detour for the Fungus Sorcerer spirit if you struggle with groups of enemies, as his ranged attack can be useful. However, it's often skippable for advanced runners.
Mid Game: Stockade to Twin Spires
This section focuses on acquiring the double jump and further strengthening your combat capabilities.
- Stockade:
- Proceed through the Stockade, primarily focusing on reaching the boss.
- Boss: Guardian Siegrid. Defeating her grants the Siegrid spirit. While not a primary damage dealer for speedruns, her jump attack can be useful for specific platforming sections or additional damage.
- Crucially, after Siegrid, you'll gain access to the Double Jump ability. This is a game-changer for navigation and opens up many shortcuts.
- Twin Spires:
- With the double jump, navigate the Twin Spires. Your main target here is the Ulv, the Mad Beast spirit. His rapid claw attacks are excellent for burst damage on bosses.
- Boss: Ulv, the Mad Beast. Defeating him is mandatory for progression.
- Prioritize reaching the Executioner spirit in the Twin Spires. His powerful, slow attack can be charged for high damage, useful for staggered bosses.
Late Game: Catacombs to Final Boss
The final stretch requires precise execution and optimal spirit usage.
- Catacombs:
- Navigate the Catacombs. The primary goal here is to acquire the Headless Defender spirit. His shield dash is excellent for quickly traversing horizontal distances and dealing damage.
- Boss: Headless Defender. Defeating him is mandatory.
- Ruined Castle & Inner Sanctum:
- Proceed through the Ruined Castle. Focus on reaching the final boss area.
- Ensure you have Gerrod, Dark Knight, Ulv, and Headless Defender equipped as your primary damage spirits. Experiment with their order for optimal DPS.
- Final Boss: Blighted Lord. This multi-phase fight requires consistent damage output and precise dodging. use your strongest spirits during his vulnerable phases.
Essential Spirit Loadout (Any% Focus)
- Gerrod, the Elder Warrior: Early game damage, poise breaking.
- White Priestess: Essential movement ability (dash).
- Dark Knight: High burst damage, especially on bosses.
- Ulv, the Mad Beast: Rapid, high-damage attacks for boss DPS.
- Headless Defender: Excellent for horizontal movement and additional damage.
