Clay
Clay is a fundamental crafting resource in Enshrouded, crucial for building advanced structures and crafting essential items. You'll primarily find clay deposits near water sources, such as rivers and lakes, often appearing as reddish-brown patches on the ground or embedded in cliff faces. Gathering clay is a relatively straightforward process, but knowing where to look and how to efficiently extract it will save you valuable time and effort as you expand your base and progress through the game.
The most common locations for clay are along the banks of rivers and streams. Look for areas where the terrain appears softer and the color is distinctly different from the surrounding earth. Sometimes, clay can be found in small caves or ravines, especially those that have been carved out by water over time. A good starting point is often near your initial base if it's situated close to a water body.
To gather clay, you will need a pickaxe. The basic stone pickaxe will suffice for early-game clay deposits. Simply approach a clay deposit and begin mining it. Each successful strike will yield clay resources. It's advisable to gather a substantial amount of clay whenever you find a rich deposit, as it's used in several recipes, including advanced building materials like bricks and pottery, as well as certain crafting stations and furniture.
When you're looking for clay, keep an eye on your minimap. Sometimes, resource nodes will be subtly indicated. If you're struggling to find clay, consider expanding your search radius around known water sources. The Kindlewastes biome, for example, has some areas with exposed clay deposits, though it's generally more prevalent in temperate zones. Efficiently gathering clay is a cornerstone of base building and progression in Enshrouded, so make it a priority to stock up whenever possible.
