6.9. Post-Raid Healing Strategies — Escape from Tarkov Guide

Effective post-raid healing is crucial for maintaining your PMC's health and ensuring you're ready for the next raid in Escape from Tarkov. Neglecting your medical needs can lead to debilitating status effects, reduced combat effectiveness, and even death if you can't manage your injuries before your next raid begins.

After a raid, your PMC will likely have sustained various injuries, from minor bleeds and fractures to heavy damage to limbs or the torso. The first step is to assess your condition. Open your character's health screen (default 'H' key) to see which body parts are damaged and what status effects you have. Minor injuries like light bleeds or pains can often be healed with basic medical items. More severe injuries, such as fractures or heavy bleeds, require specific treatments and can significantly impact your performance if not addressed promptly.

Key post-raid healing considerations:

  • Assess Injuries: Check your health screen (H) for damaged limbs, bleeds, and pain.
  • Treat Bleeds: Use bandages (e.g., Elastic Bandage, Tourniquet) for light and heavy bleeds. Tourniquets stop heavy bleeds but cause pain and limb damage.
  • Heal Fractures: Use splints (e.g., Aluminum Splint, Golden Star Balm) to fix broken limbs.
  • Manage Pain: Use painkillers (e.g., Ibuprofen, Analgin) to alleviate pain effects, which can cause tremors and reduced accuracy.
  • Restore Health: Use medical kits (e.g., IFAK, AFAK, Salewa, Grizzly) to restore lost HP to specific body parts or the entire body.
  • Prioritize: Address heavy bleeds and fractures first, as they pose the most immediate threat.

The choice of medical items depends on the severity of your injuries and what you have available. For minor issues, a Salewa or IFAK is usually sufficient. For more serious damage, a Grizzly First Aid Kit can heal multiple body parts and stop bleeds. Remember that some medical items have side effects; painkillers can cause dehydration, and splints can cause pain if not used correctly. Always ensure you have a good stock of essential medical supplies in your stash. If you're low on funds, consider using your Scav to loot medical supplies or completing quests that reward them. Prioritizing which injuries to heal first is critical; a heavy bleed is more immediately life-threatening than a fractured arm.
