Alright, so you've jumped into the world of Evil Dead: The Game and you're wondering how to not get immediately overwhelmed. Don't worry, we've all been there! This guide is all about getting you up to speed on the core gameplay loops so you can actually start having fun instead of just running away.

Teamwork is Essential and Makes the (Bad) Dream Work

First things first: this game is NOT a solo adventure. If you're playing multiplayer, get your headset on and communicate with your team. Seriously, even if you don't speak the same language, sticking together is key. You'll be surprised how much you can accomplish just by staying in the same general area, even if the only communication is a shared scream during a jump scare!

Locate the Map Fragments

Your main objective early on is to find map fragments. This sounds simple, but the game is designed to distract you. You'll constantly be sidetracked by attackers and new areas to explore. It's super easy for someone to wander off, especially if you're not talking to each other. Make sure everyone stays together and keeps moving towards the objective points. The time limits aren't super tight, but don't dawdle, or the demonic storm will catch up with you.

Push Forward Quickly

This might go against your instincts, but you can't afford to creep around. If you take too long in one spot, that demonic storm we just mentioned will catch up. You need to keep moving!

Find Better Weapons Quickly

Different weapons really change up your playstyle. If you like keeping enemies at a distance, a shotgun is your best bet. If you're more of a close-quarters fighter, a chainsaw will give you that classic Evil Dead gore-fest feel. Don't forget that melee weapons allow for Finishing Moves once you've dealt enough damage – just watch for the icon above an enemy's head and hit the prompt. You can also find rarer versions of standard weapons with improved stats, usually stashed in crates in multiplayer or guarded by demons in single-player.

Vehicles & Stealth

You'll find vehicles scattered around the map that you and your team can use. You can even run over Deadites with them, but be warned: the Demon player will know exactly when you hop into one. This means any hope of a stealthy approach goes right out the window. The same goes for firing your weapon – the more noise you make, the more likely the Demon is to find you. Try to keep a low profile early on to give yourselves the best chance of surviving.

Don’t Forget to Dodge

Some of the enemies hit really hard. Timing your dodges is crucial to avoid taking too much damage and to stay in the fight longer. Practice those dodges!
