All 8.1. C.A.M.P. Placement & Relocation in Fallout 76
Your C.A.M.P. (Construction and Assembly Mobile Platform) is your personal sanctuary in the dangerous world of Fallout 76. It's where you can craft, store items, rest, and display your achievements. Strategic placement and the ability to relocate your C.A.M.P. are vital for optimizing your gameplay experience.
The C.A.M.P. module allows you to build a base anywhere in the world, provided the terrain is relatively flat and not already occupied by another player's C.A.M.P. or a pre-existing structure. When you first place your C.A.M.P., it establishes a buildable area around the module. Anything you build within this radius is considered part of your C.A.M.P.
Choosing a C.A.M.P. Location:
Consider the following factors when selecting a spot for your C.A.M.P.:
- Resource Nodes: Look for locations with abundant resource nodes, such as water sources (for water purifiers), junk piles, or even ore veins. These can be built upon to provide a steady supply of crafting materials.
- Proximity to Fast Travel Points: Placing your C.A.M.P. near a train station or a discovered landmark can save you valuable travel time and Caps.
- Strategic Vantage Points: Elevated positions can offer better visibility for spotting enemies and potential threats, as well as a more defensible base.
- Aesthetic Appeal: Sometimes, a scenic view or a unique environmental feature can make your C.A.M.P. feel more like home.
- Avoid High-Traffic Areas: While proximity to fast travel is good, being directly on a main path can lead to frequent unwanted visitor encounters.
Building Your C.A.M.P.:
Once placed, you can construct various structures and utility items:
- Foundations: Provide a stable base for your structures.
- Walls and Roofs: Enclose your living space and protect you from the elements.
- Crafting Stations: Essential for Weapons, Armor, Chemistry, Cooking, and more.
- Power Generators: Needed to power lights, turrets, and other electrical devices.
- Defensive Structures: Turrets and walls can help protect your C.A.M.P. from attack.
- Amenities: Beds for resting, Stash boxes for storage, and displays for your trophies.
Relocating Your C.A.M.P.:
If you find a better location or need to move your base, you can relocate your C.A.M.P. The first relocation of the day is free, but subsequent moves will cost Caps. When you choose to relocate, you'll have the option to:
- Move to a New Location: This will pack up all your built structures and place them into your C.A.M.P. inventory, allowing you to rebuild them elsewhere. Some items might not be able to be packed up and will need to be rebuilt from scratch.
- Store Items: You can also choose to simply store individual items from your C.A.M.P. without moving the entire structure.
Important Considerations:
- Build Budget: Your C.A.M.P. has a build budget, limiting the number of items you can place.
- Blueprint System: You can save entire sections of your C.A.M.P. as blueprints, allowing for quick reconstruction after relocation or if your C.A.M.P. is destroyed.
- C.A.M.P. Slots: You can own multiple C.A.M.P.s, allowing you to have bases in different regions of Appalachia.
Mastering C.A.M.P. placement and relocation is a key aspect of long-term survival and convenience in Fallout 76. Choose your spots wisely and build a home that suits your needs.
