The main quest "They Went That-a-Way" is the third main quest, beginning after you leave Goodsprings. You can find guides to all quests, including side quests, to help you through the game.
After the tutorial in Goodsprings, you'll be tasked with finding out more about the people who put you in an early grave. Visit Trudy at the Prospector Saloon. She will tell you about her broken radio, Quarry Junction, and the likely path your assailants took towards New Vegas. You can repair her radio if you have a Repair skill of 20+. After repairing it, speak to her again for a reward, which can be increased with a successful [Barter 20] check. In her office, hack an [Easy] computer to open a [Hard] Floor Safe under a metal shelf for additional goodies.
