Post-Game Content
Congratulations, Deputy! You've faced down the Twins, brought peace (or at least a temporary cease-fire) to Hope County, and seen the credits roll. But the fight for a better tomorrow in the post-apocalyptic frontier is far from over. Far Cry New Dawn offers a wealth of activities to keep you engaged, upgrade your arsenal, and truly master the wasteland. This section will guide you through maximizing your post-game experience.
Reclaiming Outposts (Level 3)
One of the most lucrative and repeatable post-game activities is reclaiming Outposts. After you've liberated an Outpost, you have the option to "Scavenge" it. This action awards a significant amount of Ethanol, but the Outpost will be re-taken by the Highwaymen, who will upgrade its defenses and increase the difficulty to Level 2. Scavenging a Level 2 Outpost will then upgrade it to Level 3, presenting the ultimate challenge.
- Why do it? Level 3 Outposts offer the highest Ethanol rewards, crucial for fully upgrading Prosperity and crafting the most powerful Elite-tier weapons and vehicles. They also provide a consistent source of Perk Points and crafting materials.
- Strategy:
- Reconnaissance is Key: Before assaulting a Level 3 Outpost, use your binoculars or Timber's tagging ability to identify all enemies, alarms, and environmental hazards. Highwaymen at this level often include heavily armored Enforcers and Snipers.
- Stealth or Chaos: Both approaches are viable. For stealth, prioritize disabling alarms (usually 2-3 per Outpost) and taking out Snipers first. For a more direct approach, consider using explosives like Dynamite or Molotovs to clear groups, and the "Saw Launcher" for its devastating close-range power.
- Guns for Hire: Bring your strongest Gun for Hire. Nana, with her silenced sniper rifle, is excellent for stealth takedowns, while Hurk Drubman Jr. and his rocket launcher can create massive distractions and clear heavily armored foes.
- Elite Gear: Ensure you have Elite-tier weapons equipped. The "Blunderbuss" shotgun is fantastic for close-quarters combat against armored enemies, and the "Optimism" sniper rifle can one-shot most non-Enforcer enemies with headshots.
- Perk Management: Maximize perks like "More Ammo" and "Weapon Bag" to ensure you don't run out of essential ammunition during prolonged engagements. "Takedown Boost" can also be invaluable for quickly dispatching enemies and regaining health.
Expeditions: The Ultimate Challenge
Expeditions are self-contained missions that take you far beyond Hope County to unique, high-value locations across the United States. These missions are designed for replayability and offer some of the best rewards in the game, including rare crafting materials and perk points.
- Accessing Expeditions: Speak to Roger at the Helipad in Prosperity. He will brief you on available Expedition locations and their difficulty tiers.
- Mission Structure: Each Expedition requires you to locate a package, secure it, and then extract via a designated pickup zone. The challenge comes from the heavily armed Highwaymen patrols and the ever-present timer once the package is secured.
- Difficulty Tiers: Expeditions have three difficulty tiers:
- Tier I: Standard difficulty, good for learning the layout.
- Tier II: Increased enemy numbers and tougher variants.
- Tier III (Master): The ultimate test, featuring Elite Highwaymen, more aggressive patrols, and often environmental challenges. This is where you'll earn the most valuable rewards.
- Recommended Expeditions for Rewards:
- The Government Plane Wreck (Arizona): Excellent for Circuit Boards and Titanium. The open desert environment allows for diverse tactical approaches.
- The H.M.S. MacCoubrey (Alcatraz): A tight, multi-level environment perfect for close-quarters combat and stealth. Rewards include Carbon Fiber and Components.
- The Five Stars Theme Park (Louisiana): A chaotic, fun environment with plenty of cover and verticality. Great for earning more Circuit Boards and Components.
- Expedition Strategies:
- Stealth First: Attempt to locate and secure the package stealthily. This minimizes enemy reinforcements and allows you to control the flow of combat. Silenced weapons and Nana are your best friends here.
- Escape Route Planning: Once the package is secured, a timer begins, and Highwaymen will converge on your location. Immediately identify your extraction point and plan your route. Don't be afraid to use vehicles or grapple hooks to traverse quickly.
- Explosives and Heavy Weapons: When stealth fails or during the extraction phase, don't hold back. The "M249" LMG or the "M-79" grenade launcher can clear paths effectively.
- Co-op Advantage: Expeditions are significantly easier and more enjoyable with a co-op partner. One player can focus on securing the package while the other covers their retreat or clears a path.
Completing Challenges and Achievements
Beyond the main story and repeatable activities, a plethora of in-game challenges and achievements await. These range from specific weapon kills to environmental interactions and can provide a satisfying sense of completion.
- In-Game Challenges: Check your journal for a list of ongoing challenges. These often reward Perk Points, which are essential for unlocking all abilities. Examples include "Kill 50 enemies with a bow," "Destroy 20 Highwaymen vehicles," or "Complete 3 Treasure Hunts."
- Achievements/Trophies: For completionists, the game offers a full suite of platform-specific achievements. Many will be unlocked naturally through gameplay, but some require specific actions or exploration. For example, the "Master Skinner" achievement requires you to hunt and skin one of every animal type.
- Treasure Hunts: If you haven't completed all 10 Treasure Hunts during the main campaign, now is the time. These mini-puzzles offer valuable resources and Perk Points. Look for the diamond-shaped icons on your map to find their starting locations.
Upgrading Prosperity to the Max
Your home base, Prosperity, can be fully upgraded to Level III for all its facilities. This unlocks the best crafting options, most powerful weapons, and strongest vehicles in the game. Ethanol is the primary resource needed for these upgrades.
- Workshop: Level III unlocks Elite-tier weapons and vehicles, including the "Saw Launcher" and the "Optimism" sniper rifle.
- Infirmary: Level III provides stronger health kits and more effective healing.
- Explosives Lab: Level III unlocks advanced explosives like Proximity Mines and Remote Explosives.
- Training Camp: Level III enhances your Guns for Hire, making them more resilient and effective in combat.
- Garage: Level III provides access to the most durable and heavily armed vehicles.
- Expedition Landing Strip: Level III allows for faster travel to and from Expedition locations.
By engaging in these post-game activities, you'll not only extend your playtime but also truly become the ultimate survivor and protector of Hope County.
