Far Cry primary weapons guide: MP5, Auto45, Shotgun, P90, Carbine, Assault Rifle, and BC-74 stats and details.

MP5

The MP5 is the most common weapon found early in the game. It has to be reloaded often and runs out of ammo quick.

  • Range: **
  • Power: **
  • Reload: ***
  • Rate of Fire: *****
  • Max Ammo (per clip): 30
  • Max Clips: 6
  • Dual Wield (Akimbo): Yes

Auto45

This weapon is only found on the first stage. It is very similar to the MP5 in almost every aspect except appearance.

  • Range: **
  • Power: **
  • Reload: ***
  • Rate of Fire: *****
  • Max Ammo (per clip): 30
  • Max Clips: 6
  • Dual Wield (Akimbo): Yes

Shotgun

The Shotgun is good for close quarter combat only. Its distance is severely lacking compared to any other weapon in the game. It packs a good punch from close range, but the rapid fire spammage from any other primary weapon is usually better.

  • Range: *
  • Power: ***
  • Reload: ***
  • Rate of Fire: *
  • Max Ammo (per clip): 8
  • Max Clips: 3
  • Dual Wield (Akimbo): No

P90

The P90's are much like the AM9's. They run out of ammo very fast if you get to trigger-happy, but they will spam an enemy with gunfire very well, especially when dual wielded.

  • Range: **
  • Power: **
  • Reload: **
  • Rate of Fire: *****
  • Max Ammo (per clip): 50
  • Max Clips: 4
  • Dual Wield (Akimbo): Yes

Carbine

The Carbine is the best primary weapon that you can wield later in the game since it combines the rapid fire from the previous secondary weapons along with a scope for sniping. It has a silencer as well. The only flaw with this weapon is that the ammo is rare. Enemies will not carry it later in the game and it can only be found lying around.

  • Range: ****
  • Power: ***
  • Reload: ***
  • Rate of Fire: *****
  • Max Ammo (per clip): 30
  • Max Clips: (Not specified)
  • Dual Wield (Akimbo): No

Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle is a good choice for later in the game, but the ammo is rather rare. Some enemies will carry it but they are usually few and far between. It has a mounted grenade launcher to help you gain more precision with your grenades - they instantly explode when fired.

  • Range: ***
  • Power: ***
  • Reload: ***
  • Rate of Fire: *****
  • Max Ammo (per clip): 30
  • Max Clips: 6
  • Dual Wield (Akimbo): No

BC-74

The BC-74 is a decent auto-fire weapon for later in the game, but the reloading can get you killed since it is so long. The reload animation can't be interrupted that often and it takes about as long as the Machine Gun. Much like the Assault Rifle, it has a mounted grenade launcher.

  • Range: **
  • Power: ***
  • Reload: ****
  • Rate of Fire: *****
  • Max Ammo (per clip): 30
  • Max Clips: 4
  • Dual Wield (Akimbo): No
