Dungeons and Locations (World 2)
Welcome to World 2, adventurer! The stakes are higher, the enemies tougher, and the rewards greater. This section will guide you through the perilous new lands and dungeons that await.
The Great Forest of Moore
Upon arriving in World 2, you'll find yourself near the Great Forest of Moore. This ancient woodland is teeming with magical creatures and hidden paths. Your primary objective here is to locate the Fire Crystal.
- Entrance: The forest entrance is directly west of where you land after the dimensional shift.
- Navigation: The forest is a bit of a maze. Follow the glowing flowers to stay on the correct path. If you stray, you'll often encounter stronger enemies or dead ends.
- Enemies: Expect encounters with Mandrakes (vulnerable to Fire), Treants (weak to Fire), and the elusive Mini Dragon (can be quite tough, consider using Sleep or Confuse).
- Treasures:
- Ether: Found in a chest near the first glowing flower path.
- Green Beret: Located in a hidden path accessible by walking through a seemingly solid tree trunk on the western side of the forest, about halfway through.
- Elixir: In a chest just before the Fire Crystal's location.
- Strategy: Equip your party with Fire-elemental spells or weapons if possible. The Black Mage's Fira or the Mystic Knight's Spellblade (Fire) will be invaluable.
Moore Village
After navigating the Great Forest, you'll emerge near Moore Village. This small settlement offers a brief respite and crucial supplies.
- Inn: Rest here to recover HP/MP and save your game.
- Item Shop: Stock up on Potions, Hi-Potions, Phoenix Downs, and Antidotes. They also sell some basic elemental attack items.
- Weapon Shop: You'll find slightly upgraded weapons here, such as the Mythril Sword and Mythril Spear. Consider purchasing if your current gear is outdated.
- Armor Shop: Offers Mythril Shields and Mythril Helms. Essential upgrades for your front-line fighters.
- Key Event: Speak to the villagers to gather information about the current state of the world and the looming threat.
Desert of the Shifting Sands
South of Moore Village lies the vast and treacherous Desert of the Shifting Sands. This area is home to powerful sand-dwelling creatures and a critical ancient ruin.
- Navigation: The desert has areas of quicksand that will pull you into battles. Stick to the rocky paths where possible.
- Enemies: Sand Worms (use Ice spells or attacks), Antlions (can inflict status effects, bring Esuna), and the rare Sand Golem (physical attacks are key, avoid magic).
- Treasures:
- Lamia Harp: Found in a chest in the northern part of the desert, often guarded by a Sand Worm. This is a great weapon for Bards.
- Phoenix Down (x2): Scattered in chests throughout the desert.
- Strategy: Equip accessories that prevent status effects like Poison or Blind. A Blue Mage with White Wind can be very helpful for healing.
Ancient Library of Ronka
Within the Desert of the Shifting Sands, you'll discover the Ancient Library of Ronka, a floating structure that holds secrets to the world's past and future.
- Entrance: The library is located in the center of the desert. You'll need to find a specific quicksand pit that leads to its underground entrance.
- Layout: The library consists of multiple floors, filled with magical books and ancient guardians.
- Enemies: Page 32 (weak to Fire), Page 64 (weak to Ice), Page 128 (weak to Thunder), and the formidable Iron Claw (strong physical attacks, consider using Protect).
- Treasures:
- Rod of Fire: On the first floor, in a chest behind a bookshelf.
- Rod of Ice: On the second floor, accessible by pressing a hidden switch on a wall.
- Rod of Thunder: On the third floor, requiring you to step on a specific pressure plate.
- Power Staff: A powerful staff for your Black Mages, found on the top floor before the boss.
- Puzzles: You'll encounter several "book puzzles" where you need to interact with specific books to open paths. Pay attention to the clues given by the library's inhabitants.
- Boss: Byblos
- Strategy: Byblos is a magical beast. He is weak to Fire. Use your strongest Fire spells (Fira, Firaga if you have it) and Fire-elemental Spellblades. He can cast powerful magic, so consider equipping magic defense gear or using Shell. Keep your HP high and be ready with healing.
- Reward: After defeating Byblos, you'll gain access to the next part of the story and potentially a new Job Class.
