Trophy Guide

Welcome, aspiring SOLDIER, to the definitive guide for earning every single trophy in Final Fantasy VII Remake on PlayStation 4! This section will provide you with detailed strategies, locations, and tips to conquer every challenge and add that coveted Platinum trophy to your collection. While some trophies are story-related and unmissable, many require specific actions, careful planning, and a keen eye for collectibles. Prepare for multiple playthroughs, as mastering Hard Mode and completing all side quests are essential.

General Trophy Hunting Advice

  • First Playthrough: Enjoy the Story! Don't stress too much about trophies on your initial run. Focus on understanding the combat system, exploring, and experiencing the narrative. You'll naturally unlock many trophies along the way.
  • Collect Everything: Keep an eye out for chests, Shinra Boxes, and especially Materia. Many trophies are tied to collecting all Materia or obtaining specific items.
  • Side Quests are Key: Completing all side quests in each chapter where they appear is crucial for several trophies, including those related to character relationships and specific events.
  • Chapter Select: After completing the game, Chapter Select becomes available. This is your best friend for cleaning up missed collectibles, completing side quests, and tackling Hard Mode.
  • Hard Mode Preparation: Before attempting Hard Mode, ensure your characters are well-equipped, have maxed-out Materia (especially HP Up, MP Up, Elemental, and Magnify), and understand enemy attack patterns. There are no items allowed in Hard Mode, so MP management and healing spells are paramount.

Combat & Battle Trophies

Staggering Feat

Stagger an enemy.

This is likely one of the first trophies you'll earn. Simply use abilities that increase an enemy's Stagger gauge. Cloud's Focused Thrust and Barret's Focused Shot are excellent early-game options. Most bosses and larger enemies have a Stagger gauge that fills as you deal damage and use specific abilities. Once full, the enemy becomes Staggered, making them vulnerable to increased damage.

Bonds of Friendship

Use a synergy ability.

Synergy abilities become available once you unlock the appropriate Folios for each character. For example, Cloud and Tifa can unlock United Front. To use a synergy ability, both characters must have at least one ATB charge. Select the ability from the Command Menu. This trophy is easily obtained during normal gameplay.

Limit Break Buster

Deal 5,000 damage with a single attack.

This trophy is best attempted against a Staggered enemy, preferably a boss or a larger enemy with a high damage multiplier during Stagger. Cloud's Cross-Slash or Ascension Limit Breaks are good candidates. Equip Materia like Attack Up and Strength Up to maximize damage. Consider using Barret's Maximum Fury or Tifa's True Strike during Stagger to increase the damage multiplier before Cloud's Limit Break.

Weapons Master

Learn all weapon abilities.

Each character has multiple weapons, and each weapon has a unique ability. To "learn" an ability, you must use it a certain number of times in combat. Once learned, the ability can be used even if you switch to a different weapon. This trophy requires you to obtain all weapons for all characters and master their abilities. rotate weapons frequently and use their unique abilities. You can track your progress in the "Weapons" section of the main menu.

  • Weapon Locations:
    • Cloud: Buster Sword (starting), Iron Blade (Chapter 3, Weapon Shop), Hardedge (Chapter 9, Weapon Shop), Mythril Saber (Chapter 14, Weapon Shop), Twin Stinger (Chapter 17, Chest in Shinra Building), Organics (Chapter 17, Story progression).
    • Barret: Gatling Gun (starting), Light Machine Gun (Chapter 6, Weapon Shop), Big Bertha (Chapter 13, Weapon Shop), Steel Pincers (Chapter 14, Weapon Shop), EKG Cannon (Chapter 16, Weapon Shop), Wrecking Ball (Chapter 17, Story progression).
    • Tifa: Leather Gloves (starting), Metal Knuckles (Chapter 5, Weapon Shop), Sonic Strikers (Chapter 7, Weapon Shop), Feathered Gloves (Chapter 10, Weapon Shop), Mythril Claws (Chapter 13, Weapon Shop), Grand Gloves (Chapter 16, Weapon Shop).

Collectible & Completion Trophies

Materia Master

Collect all Materia.

This is a significant undertaking! You'll need to find every piece of Materia scattered throughout Midgar, including those found in chests, purchased from shops, earned from side quests, and obtained through battle challenges. Pay close attention to your surroundings and consult a comprehensive Materia location guide if you're struggling. Remember that some Materia are only available on Hard Mode or after completing specific challenges in the Shinra Combat Simulator.

  • Key Materia to Watch For:
    • Elemental Materia: Found in Chapter 6 (Mako Reactor 5) and Chapter 14 (Sewer). Essential for Hard Mode.
    • Magnify Materia: Found in Chapter 9 (Wall Market). Invaluable for spreading healing or buffs.
    • Steal Materia: Obtained in Chapter 3 (Side Quest: Nuisance in the Factory).
    • HP Up / MP Up Materia: Numerous locations, but always worth picking up.
    • Chakra / Prayer Materia: Chakra is found in Chapter 3 (Side Quest: Nuisance in the Factory), Prayer in Chapter 8 (Side Quest: Kids on Patrol).
    • Subversion Materia: Found in Chapter 17 (Shinra Building).
    • Revival Materia: Found in Chapter 4 (Sector 7 Slums) and Chapter 14 (Sewer).

Disc Jockey

Collect all music discs.

There are 31 music discs to collect in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Many are purchased from Jukeboxes or vending machines, while others are rewards for side quests or found in specific locations. Keep a checklist handy and revisit areas using Chapter Select if you miss any. The Jukebox in Seventh Heaven (Chapter 3) is a good place to check which discs you already own.

  • Disc Locations (Examples):
    • Disc 1: The Prelude: Starting disc.
    • Disc 2: Bombing Mission: Purchased from a vending machine in Chapter 1.
    • Disc 3: Tifa's Theme: Purchased from the Jukebox in Seventh Heaven (Chapter 3).

    • Luxury Dress: Complete both the "Chocobo Sam" and "Madam M" side quest paths, which requires specific choices and completing all available side quests in Chapter 9. This is the trickiest one. Ensure you complete "The Party Never Stops" and "A Dynamite Body" for Madam M, and "Burning Thighs" and "Chocobo Search" for Sam.

Challenge & Skill Trophies

Hardened Veteran

Complete all chapters on Hard difficulty.

This is the ultimate test of your skills and preparation. Hard Mode disables item usage and resets MP at rest points, making Materia management and strategic combat crucial. Max out your Materia, especially HP Up, MP Up, Elemental, Magnify, and Barrier/Manawall. Learn enemy attack patterns and exploit weaknesses. Don't be afraid to grind for AP to level up Materia. Focus on staggering enemies and using Limit Breaks effectively.

  • Hard Mode Tips:
    • MP Management: Use Magnify + Healing Materia sparingly. Rely on Chakra and Prayer Materia for healing. Equip MP Up Materia on all characters.
    • Elemental Materia: Pair Elemental with Armor to reduce elemental damage, or with Weapon to exploit enemy weaknesses.
    • Barrier/Manawall: Essential for reducing damage from powerful attacks.
    • Revival Materia: Always have at least one equipped, preferably two.
    • Assess Materia: Crucial for identifying enemy weaknesses and resistances.
    • Weapon Abilities: Master all weapon abilities before starting Hard Mode, as they provide valuable stat bonuses and unique attacks.
    • Grinding: If you're struggling, revisit Chapter 16 on Normal or Easy to grind AP for your Materia.

Ultimate Weapon

Defeat the Pride and Joy Prototype.

The Pride and Joy Prototype is the final boss of the Shinra Combat Simulator's "Three-Person Team vs. Top Secrets" challenge, unlocked after completing all other challenges and finishing the game. This is arguably the toughest fight in the game. You'll face multiple powerful bosses back-to-back, culminating in Pride and Joy. Maxed-out Materia, optimal gear, and a deep understanding of combat mechanics are essential. Focus on staggering, exploiting elemental weaknesses, and managing your ATB and Limit Breaks effectively.

  • Recommended Setup:
    • Cloud: Punisher Mode for damage, Counterstance for defense. Equip Elemental + Ice on weapon for Bahamut.
    • Tifa: Focus on building Stagger and increasing the Stagger multiplier with Unbridled Strength and True Strike.
    • Aerith: Arcane Ward for double casting spells, healing, and support.
    • Materia: HP Up, MP Up, Magic Up, Attack Up, Elemental, Magnify (with Healing or Barrier), Revive, Time, Barrier, Steadfast Block.
    • Summons: Bahamut is excellent for burst damage, but Shiva and Ifrit can also be useful for specific encounters.

Good luck, and may your journey through Midgar be filled with triumphant trophy pops!
