Consumable items in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered are essential for survival and strategic advantage, ranging from basic curatives to powerful items that can teach Guardian Forces (GFs) new abilities or boost character stats. While basic healing items are always beneficial, focusing on specific rare consumables can significantly impact your min-maxing efforts and overall gameplay.

Beyond standard curatives, Hero and Hero-Trials are noted as fantastic consumable items. These can be acquired through various means, including refining other rare items.

One notable consumable for min-maxing is the Luck-J Scroll. These scrolls can be refined into Luck Ups, which provide the only viable method to significantly boost a character's Luck stat. Luck-J Scrolls are primarily obtained by refining Dark Matter, which itself is refined from 100x Curse Spikes.

Other valuable consumables that can be refined from Dark Matter include Shaman Stones, which are crucial for teaching GFs new abilities, and Rosetta Stones, which can teach GFs the Abilityx4 ability, allowing them to junction more abilities. Additionally, refining Dark Matter can yield stocks of Ultima magic, offering an alternative to drawing it from specific locations.
