Hidden Draw Points & Items
Final Fantasy VIII features a unique magic system where spells are drawn from enemies or hidden draw points scattered across environments. These draw points are crucial for stocking up on powerful magic, which can then be junctioned to Guardian Forces and character stats. Additionally, the Angelo Search ability, learned by Rinoa, can yield a variety of rare and useful items.
Angelo Search, a skill Rinoa can learn, provides a chance to obtain various items. To maximize its effectiveness, ensure Rinoa has learned Angelo Search and avoid teaching her Angelo Recover or Angelo Reverse. Also, do not acquire Odin, and if you have Odin, do not complete Lunatic Pandora, as Giglamesh will join near the end of disc 3, potentially affecting Angelo Search outcomes. Prepare by stocking Confuse spells, and if needed, LV Up or LV Down. Lower a character's Strength by unjunctioning magic and removing Str+60% to control damage output.

Curse Spikes are particularly valuable; 100 Curse Spikes can be refined into Dark Matter, which in turn refines into items like Shaman Stones and Luck-J Scrolls. Luck-J Scrolls are the only viable way to significantly boost Luck, a goal for min-maxers. Obtaining more Rosetta Stones (for Abilityx4), Ultima spells, or Hero-Trial items are also possible through refinement.
