The game introduces six distinct elements: Fire, Ice, Lightning, Water, Gravity, and Holy. Utilizing the scan ability is crucial for identifying enemy weaknesses, strengths, immunities, and absorptions, allowing for optimized damage output.

Key strategies for FFX-2 story bosses:

  • Elemental Exploitation: Use skills that hit elemental affinities. Many skills cover at least Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Water. Classes like Warrior can use skills such as Demi Sword and Excalibur to potentially hit all six elemental affinities.
  • Scan Ability: Regularly use the scan ability (or related abilities) to reveal a boss's stats, immunities, and elemental affinities. This information is vital for planning your attacks and defense.
  • Garment Grids (GGs): Pay close attention to the Garment Grids you obtain.
    • Utilize GGs that nullify status effects or absorb elements to protect your party.
    • If you are struggling with boss survival, look for GGs that boost DEF/MDEF or absorb elemental attacks to heal your characters.
  • Gravity Immunity: Most bosses are immune to Gravity, preventing the use of Demi (which removes 25% of current health). Focus on other elemental attacks.

  • Bevelle/Mushroom Rock Road:
    • Mission Complete! (Defeat Lucil And The Youth League Warriors)
    • Speak to Lucil at Youth League Headquarters, Observation Deck, to receive 'Nooj's Sphere'.
    • Watch Sphere 'Deathseeker' on the Airship.
    • Speak with Maroda at the Temple Entrance.
    • Inside Via Infinito, obtain Crimson Sphere 6 at Cloister 0 and Crimson Sphere 8 at Cloister 20.
    • Board the Airship and watch 'Crimson Record 6' and 'Crimson Record 8'.
    • After obtaining all Crimson Spheres, open the Sealed Door in the Den of Woe and defeat the bosses. Episode Complete!
    • Defeat Trema in Cloister ∞. Episode Complete!
    • Machina Booster is found beside the elevator to Youth League HQ.
    • Scourgebane GG is given with the Bevelle Episode Complete.
    • Drill Shot BB can be learned from Baralai (last chance).
  • Thunder Plains:
    • Mission Complete!
    • Rescue Cid in the Secret Cave, then defeat the boss. Episode Complete!
    • After Episode Complete, speak with Cid on the Deck.
    • Return to the Bridge to view Cid's Tirade.
    • Chests are dependent on how well you calibrated the towers in CH2/3.
    • Valiant Lustre is obtained from defeating Humbaba.
    • Rescuing Cid nets you another Al Bhed Primer.
    • Corpus Invictus is found in the secret cave.
    • Completing the cave gets you the Salvation Promised GG.
    • Completing the cave twice gets you the Force of Nature ACC.
    • Nature's Lore is found in the secret cave.
