FFX: Wakka

Learn how to acquire Wakka's Brotherhood sword and Valefor's Energy Blast Overdrive in Final Fantasy X. This guide covers the Besaid Island mission and the Flam.

FFX: Wakka

Wakka, a Blitzball star, provides Tidus with the Brotherhood sword early in the game, which offers a Strength +5% bonus. He is also connected to Valefor's unique second Overdrive, Energy Blast, obtainable by speaking with a dog in Besaid Village after a specific interaction. Wakka's storyline involves a cave mission and a boss fight against the Flame Dragon.

Upon meeting Wakka, he gifts Tidus the Brotherhood sword, which initially provides Strength +5%. This sword will later gain a Strength +10% ability.

  • Valefor's Overdrive: To obtain Valefor's second Overdrive, Energy Blast, first speak with the girl with the dog in the item shop in Besaid. After she mentions her dog found something, go to the third eastern house in Besaid and speak with the dog.
  • Besaid Island Mission:
    • Speak with Lulu in her house in Besaid Village.
    • Find the cave Wakka mentioned by heading east from the village.
    • Locate four numbers:
      1. Examine the red dot on the map in the next area.
      2. Jump onto the wall around the next red dot and examine it.
      3. Go to the beach, find the kids, climb up, and find the third number.
      4. Continue down the beach to the very end, climb into the grass, and collect the fourth number.
    • Return to the cave entrance and input the codes.
    • Inside the cave, follow the path, taking the U-part first for Potion x2, then the north path.
    • Jump over rocks and save your game.
    • Collect the sphere to trigger a boss battle.
  • Flame Dragon Boss Battle:
    • HP: 980
    • MP: 620
    • Null Status: KO, Petrifaction, Sleep, Silence, Confusion, Curse, Stop
    • Weak: Ice
    • Half: Fire
    • Immune: Gravity
    • Attacks: Flame Breath (All/Magic/Fire), Claw Attack (Single/Physical)
    • Equipping Red Rings can reduce damage from Flame Breath.
  • Post-Battle Rewards: After defeating the Flame Dragon, you will obtain The White Mage DS. Speaking to Wakka afterward will grant you the Besaid Sphere and Protection Halo GG.
