Garment Grids in Final Fantasy X-2 are essential for customizing your party's abilities and playstyle. Beyond their inherent special abilities, Garment Grids allow characters to learn new skills by spherechanging through 'gates' during battle. Strategic selection and understanding of these grids can significantly impact combat outcomes.

Garment Grid Mechanics

  • Special Abilities: Many Garment Grids provide unique abilities simply by being equipped. For example, the Heart of Flame Garment Grid will absorb all fire damage for the character using it.
  • Spherechanging through Gates: Changing Dresspheres while passing through colored 'gates' on a Garment Grid can grant temporary abilities. For instance, if a character spherechanges from Gunner to Warrior through a red gate on the Heart of Flame GG, they will gain the Flamestrike ability for the duration of that battle.
  • Nodes and Dresspheres: Different Garment Grids have varying numbers of nodes, which determine how many Dresspheres can be assigned to them. Assigning specific Garment Grids to each girl ensures they have access to Dresspheres they have used before and have learned abilities for, making preparation a key part of battle strategy.

  • Healing Light GG: Acquired in Guadosalam by beating the LeBlanc gang.
  • Mounted Assault GG: Obtained through Chocobo Treasure Hunting in the Calm Lands.
  • Strength of One GG: Obtained through Chocobo Treasure Hunting in the Calm Lands.
  • Disaster in Bloom GG: Available for sale at Lv5 from Argent and Open Air in the Calm Lands after their merger.
  • Flash of Steel GG: Available for sale at Lv5 from Argent and Open Air in the Calm Lands after their merger.
  • Higher Power GG: Awarded for beating Anything Eater in the Calm Lands.
  • Intrepid GG: Complete the Standard Cup in Fiend Arena three times (INT/HD Only).
