Knowing where to find them and what they offer can be crucial for your survival and strategic planning. This section details the primary shop locations and their inventories as you progress through the game.
Early Game Shops & Essential Purchases
In the initial stages of your pilgrimage, resources are scarce, and every Gil counts. Focus on stocking up on healing items and basic equipment upgrades.
- Besaid Village:
- Location: Inside the village, near the temple entrance.
- Availability: Accessible after completing the Besaid Temple events.
- Key Items:
- Potions: Always a good idea to have a healthy stock.
- Phoenix Downs: Revive fallen allies; critical for boss battles.
- Softs: Cures petrification, a common status ailment in early areas.
- Antidotes: Cures poison.
- Strategy: Purchase enough Potions and Phoenix Downs to last you through the next few areas. Consider a few Softs if you're struggling with petrifying enemies.
- Kilika Village:
- Location: The main village area, after the events at Kilika Temple.
- Availability: After the S.S. Liki docks and you've navigated through the Kilika Woods.
- Key Items: Similar to Besaid, but with slightly improved gear.

- Mi'ihen Highroad:
- Location: A traveling merchant can be found at various points along the Highroad.
- Availability: After leaving Luca.
- Key Items: Often sells weapons with elemental properties or useful auto-abilities like Sensor.
- Strategy: This merchant is a good source for early elemental weapons, which can be very effective against specific enemy types. Check their inventory each time you pass.
- Mushroom Rock Road:
- Location: Near the Command Center and the various encampments.
- Availability: During and after the Operation Mi'ihen events.
- Key Items: Stronger weapons and armor, often with better base stats or more open slots for customization.

- Strategy: Guadosalam is an excellent place to start thinking about weapon and armor customization. Purchase gear with multiple empty slots if you have the necessary customization items.
- Thunder Plains:
- Location: Near the Travel Agency.
- Availability: Upon reaching the Thunder Plains.
- Key Items: Items to cure Silence and Darkness, and potentially lightning-resistant armor.
