Pair Up and Attack Stance Mechanics

The "Pair Up" mechanic in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave allows two units to occupy the same space on the battlefield, with one unit acting as the primary attacker and the other as the support. This system offers significant strategic advantages, both offensively and defensively. When paired, the secondary unit provides stat bonuses to the primary unit, such as increased Strength, Skill, Speed, and Defense. Furthermore, the secondary unit can intervene to defend the primary unit if it takes damage, effectively halving the incoming damage. This makes paired units much more resilient and capable of surviving attacks that might otherwise be fatal.

The "Attack Stance" is a crucial element of the Pair Up system. When a unit is in Attack Stance, they can initiate attacks and are the primary target. The secondary unit in the pair provides their bonuses and can also perform "Dual Attacks" if certain conditions are met, such as having high support levels between the two units and the primary unit's Skill stat being sufficiently high. Conversely, units can also enter "Defensive Stance," where they focus on protecting their partner. Understanding when to use Attack Stance for maximum offensive pressure and when to prioritize defense is key to effectively utilizing this mechanic. Properly paired units can dominate the battlefield, allowing you to overcome even the most daunting challenges.

Pair Up Benefits

  • Damage Reduction: Secondary unit can halve incoming damage to the primary unit.
  • Dual Attacks: Chance for the secondary unit to attack alongside the primary unit.
  • Increased Survivability: Paired units are generally much harder to defeat.
  • Strategic Flexibility: Allows for more aggressive pushes or defensive stands.
