Brakes & Tire Selection
In the high-octane world of Forza Horizon 6, effective braking and the right tires are paramount for both speed and control. The game provides extensive options to upgrade your braking system and choose the perfect rubber for any challenge.
Navigate to the "Brakes" section within the "Upgrades and Tuning" menu. Here, you can upgrade your brake components. Upgrading to performance brake pads and rotors will increase stopping power and reduce brake fade, which is crucial for endurance racing or descending steep gradients. For the ultimate stopping performance, you can often install racing brake kits, which offer the most significant improvements in braking force and heat management.
The "Tires & Wheels" section is where you'll make critical decisions about grip. You can upgrade to different tire compounds, each offering distinct advantages:
- Street Tires: Offer a good balance of grip and durability for general driving.
- Sport Tires: Provide increased grip over street tires, ideal for spirited driving and track use.
- Race Tires: Offer the highest level of grip for dry conditions, but wear out faster and can be less effective in wet weather.
- Off-Road Tires: Designed with aggressive tread patterns for maximum traction on dirt, mud, and gravel surfaces.
Beyond the tire compound, you can also adjust tire pressure. Lower tire pressure can increase the contact patch, improving grip on loose surfaces, while higher pressure can reduce rolling resistance on smooth surfaces. Furthermore, you can often change the width of your tires, with wider tires generally offering more grip but potentially increasing drag.
When selecting tires, consider the type of event and the surface you'll be racing on. For a tarmac circuit race, race tires are usually the best choice. For a cross-country rally, off-road tires are essential. also consider the impact of tire upgrades on your car's PI. A significant upgrade in tire grip can drastically increase your car's overall performance rating.
