Suspension & Handling Adjustments

Mastering the diverse terrains of Forza Horizon 6, from the bustling streets of Japan to its wilder landscapes, hinges on your car's suspension and handling. The game offers a comprehensive suite of tuning options to dial in your vehicle's ride and cornering capabilities.

Access the "Suspension & Anti-Roll Bars" section within the "Upgrades and Tuning" menu to begin. Here, you can adjust several key parameters that directly influence how your car behaves:

  • Ride Height: Lowering your car's ride height generally improves aerodynamics and reduces body roll, leading to better cornering. However, excessively low ride height can cause bottoming out on uneven surfaces.
  • Spring Rate: Stiffer springs reduce body roll and improve responsiveness but can make the ride harsher and less forgiving over bumps. Softer springs offer a more comfortable ride but can lead to more body movement. You can often adjust front and rear springs independently.
  • Dampers (Shock Absorbers): Rebound and bump damping control how quickly the suspension compresses and extends. Stiffer damping resists rapid movements, improving stability, while softer damping allows for more suspension travel and can improve grip on rough surfaces.
  • Anti-Roll Bars: These connect the left and right sides of the suspension to resist body roll. Stiffer anti-roll bars reduce body roll but can also increase understeer or oversteer depending on which end is stiffened.

When tuning your suspension, consider the surface you'll be driving on. For smooth asphalt circuits, you can afford to run a stiffer, lower setup. For off-road events or rally stages, a softer suspension with more travel will be crucial for absorbing bumps and maintaining traction. The goal is to find a balance that provides predictable and responsive handling without sacrificing too much comfort or grip.

Pay close attention to how your car feels during test drives. Does it feel too stiff? Does it roll excessively in corners? Does it bounce uncontrollably over bumps? Use the tuning sliders to make incremental adjustments and observe the impact on your car's behavior. Small changes can have a significant effect on your ability to navigate the challenging environments of Forza Horizon 6.
