Mainland Sidequests Achievements
Ghost of Tsushima features a rich tapestry of side quests, known as Tales of Tsushima, that flesh out the world and its characters. Completing these side quests is essential for a full experience and is directly tied to several significant achievements, particularly those related to character-specific questlines and overall completion.
The game categorizes side quests into several types, often tied to specific characters or regions. The most prominent are the character-driven tales, such as those of Ishikawa, Masako, Norio, and Yuna. Each of these characters has a series of quests that Jin undertakes, often revealing personal stories and contributing to the larger conflict.
Achievements related to mainland sidequests include:
- 'The Warrior Monk': Complete all of Norio's tales.
- 'The Vengeful Warrior': Complete all of Masako's tales.
- 'The Unbending Archer': Complete all of Ishikawa's tales.
- 'The Headstrong Thief': Complete all of Yuna's tales.
- 'Teller of Tales': Complete all Mythic Tales.
- 'Helping Sword Hand': Complete all Tales of Tsushima (this includes all character tales, mythic tales, and numerous smaller side quests).
To unlock 'Helping Sword Hand,' players must complete all 61 side quests available in the base game. These quests are marked on the map with white icons, often featuring the face of the associated character. If you're struggling to find the last few quests, checking your journal and comparing your completed list against a master list is recommended, as some quests can be easily missed.
The character-specific achievements require completing their entire quest chain. For example, Norio's tales involve his journey as a warrior monk, while Ishikawa's focus on his archery skills and past regrets. Engaging with these stories not only provides valuable rewards but also deepens the player's understanding of Tsushima's plight and its inhabitants.
