Getting Started in Ghost of Tsushima

Embark on your journey as Jin Sakai in Ghost of Tsushima by understanding early-game priorities. This section helps you navigate the initial stages, focusing on crucial skills to unlock, essential gear to acquire, and common mistakes to avoid. Prepare to face any challenge Tsushima presents by optimizing your first steps.

  • Prologue: Begin your adventure with key events such as the Komoda Beach Battle, navigating Komoda Town, engaging in Combat Training, escaping Komoda Town, confronting Khotun Khan at Castle Kaneda, attending the Sakai Estate Funeral, and the Escape from Castle Kaneda.
  • Early Game Focus: Prioritize learning combat mechanics like parrying and initiating standoffs. Don't rush into Mythic Tales immediately; instead, explore and complete initial Story quests to gain Technique points.
  • Act I Main Missions: These missions gradually unlock and serve as tutorials for combat and character progression. They include:
    • The Tale of Sensei Ishikawa
    • The Tale of Lady Masako
    • The Warrior's Code
    • Blood on the Grass
    • The Tale of Ryuzo
    • The Broken Blacksmith
    • Hammer and Forge
    • The Iron Hook
    • Shadow of the Samurai
  • Mythic Tales: While available from Act 1, it's beneficial to complete some central Story quests first. The Heavenly Strike is particularly useful and unlocks a powerful ability. To initiate this quest, speak to Yamoto in Umugi Cove.
