Fast Travel

Traversing the vast and beautiful island of Tsushima can be a lengthy endeavor, even with your trusty steed. Fortunately, Jin Sakai has access to a convenient Fast Travel system that allows you to instantly warp to previously discovered locations. Mastering this system is crucial for efficient questing, resource gathering, and revisiting key areas.

How to Fast Travel

Initiating a Fast Travel is a straightforward process:

  1. Open Your Map: Press the Touchpad on your PlayStation controller to bring up the world map.
  2. Select a Destination: Browse the map for available Fast Travel points. These are represented by specific icons (detailed below).
  3. Confirm Travel: Once you've highlighted your desired location, press X to confirm. A brief loading screen will appear, and you'll arrive at your destination.

Important Note: You cannot Fast Travel while in combat or during certain story-critical sequences. If the Fast Travel option is greyed out, check your immediate surroundings for enemies or mission objectives that might be preventing it.

Types of Fast Travel Points

Not all locations on Tsushima can be Fast Traveled to. Only specific, discovered points of interest serve as valid destinations:

  • Liberated Mongol Camps/Outposts: Once you've successfully cleared a Mongol-occupied territory, its icon on the map will change, indicating it's now a Fast Travel point. These are often strategically placed and offer excellent starting points for exploring new regions.
  • Villages and Settlements: Major settlements like Izuhara, Toyotama, and Kamiagata, along with smaller villages, become Fast Travel points upon discovery. These are ideal for accessing merchants, armor upgrades, and side quests.
  • Temples and Shrines: Shinto Shrines and Buddhist Temples, once visited, also serve as Fast Travel locations. These are often found in scenic or elevated areas, providing good vantage points.
  • Hot Springs: Discovering a Hot Spring not only restores Jin's Resolve but also marks it as a Fast Travel point. Useful for a quick health and Resolve boost before a challenging encounter.
  • Pillars of Honor: While primarily offering cosmetic sword kits, each Pillar of Honor you find also doubles as a Fast Travel location.
  • Lighthouses: Activating a Lighthouse will add it to your list of Fast Travel destinations.
  • Story-Specific Locations: Certain key locations tied to main quests or important side quests may also become Fast Travel points once visited.

Strategic Fast Travel Tips

  • Prioritize Liberation: Actively seek out and liberate Mongol camps. Not only does this weaken the Mongol hold on Tsushima, but it also expands your Fast Travel network significantly, making subsequent travel much faster.
  • Explore Thoroughly: Don't rush through areas. Take the time to explore and discover all points of interest. The more locations you uncover, the more flexible your Fast Travel options become.
  • Resource Runs: Use Fast Travel to quickly jump between areas rich in specific resources. For example, if you need a lot of Supplies and Iron, Fast Travel between liberated camps. For Bamboo and Yew Wood, target forest-heavy areas or specific shrines.
  • Quest Efficiency: When tracking multiple quests, use Fast Travel to jump between distant objectives, minimizing horseback riding time and maximizing your playtime.
  • Escape and Resupply: If you find yourself in a difficult fight with low health and Resolve, Fast Travel to a nearby Hot Spring or a safe settlement to regroup and resupply before returning to the fray.

By effectively utilizing the Fast Travel system, you can significantly streamline your journey across Tsushima, allowing you to focus more on the captivating narrative and thrilling combat encounters.
