Quest Guide and Walkthrough

Ghost of Tsushima features a main story split into three acts, chronicling Jin Sakai's transformation into the 'Ghost.' Main quests are marked as 'Jin's Journey' on the map. Beyond the main narrative, you'll encounter character-specific tales, one-off NPC missions, and seven Mythic Tales, which unlock powerful abilities or special armor, often culminating in boss battles.

The main story quests are divided by Act:

  • Prologue and Act 1: Rescue Lord Shimura

Mythic Tales are special side missions given by musicians around the island. These quests reward you with either a Mythical ability or a special piece of armor and often involve boss battles. Three Mythic Tales are available in Act 1, unlocking gradually as you complete central story quests. It is advised to complete these after some initial exploration to gain Technique points, but not to delay them too long, especially The Heavenly Strike, which unlocks a very useful ability.

  • Mythic Tales include:
    • The Curse of Uchitsune
    • How to Unlock Dance of Wrath (Spirit of Yarikawa's Vengeance)
    • All Six Blades of Kojiro Duels: This quest involves fighting five Straw Hat ronin and their leader, Kojiro. These duels appear on the map at the start of Act 2 and can be cleared before officially beginning the questline.

The Ghost Stance is unlocked during "The Ghost of Yarikawa" main quest. To enter Ghost Stance, you must kill 7 enemies without taking damage. This requirement is lowered to 6 with the Ghost Armor (no upgrades) and further to 5 when the Ghost Armor is fully upgraded. Ghost Stance allows you to kill up to 3 enemies per activation.
