Beyond the main story, Vice City offers a plethora of vehicle-based side missions that can earn you significant cash, unlock new features, and even provide permanent bonuses. Mastering these challenges is crucial for a complete Vice City experience. This section details each vehicle mission, offering strategies and walkthroughs to ensure your success.

Taxi Driver

The Taxi Driver mission is available immediately after acquiring any taxi vehicle. Simply enter a taxi, and you'll be prompted to start the mission. Your goal is to pick up passengers and deliver them to their destinations within a time limit.

• Starting Point: Any taxi vehicle (e.g., Kaufman Cabs, Zebra Cab).
• How to Start: Enter a taxi and press the designated mission start button (usually R3 on PlayStation, or the horn button on PC).
• Strategy:
  • Know Your Routes: Familiarize yourself with Vice City's layout to choose the most efficient paths.
  • Avoid Damage: Excessive damage to your taxi will scare off passengers or make them refuse to enter. Drive carefully!
  • Watch the Timer: Each passenger has a time limit. Prioritize speed but don't sacrifice control.
  • Bribes: If you're being chased by the police, picking up a passenger can sometimes temporarily reduce your wanted level.
  • Reward: Completing 100 fares (not necessarily consecutively) unlocks the ability for all taxis to have a "jump" feature, activated by pressing the horn button. This is incredibly useful for navigating traffic and shortcuts.

Paramedic

The Paramedic mission is a challenging but rewarding endeavor that requires you to save a specific number of patients across various levels. This mission is best attempted early in the game, as the later levels become significantly more difficult.

• Starting Point: Any Ambulance vehicle. Look for them parked outside hospitals (e.g., Downtown, Ocean Beach, Little Havana).
• How to Start: Enter an Ambulance and press the designated mission start button.
• Strategy:
  • Prioritize Patients: The mini-map will show patient locations. Collect them in the most efficient order to maximize your time.
  • Careful Driving: Your ambulance can only sustain so much damage before exploding. Drive with caution, especially when navigating tight streets.
  • Patient Capacity: Your ambulance can hold up to three patients at a time. Once full, you must return to the hospital to drop them off before collecting more.
  • Wanted Levels: Be extremely careful not to hit pedestrians or other vehicles while driving, as this will attract police attention, making the mission much harder.
  • Reward: Completing Level 12 of the Paramedic mission grants you infinite sprint, a permanent and invaluable upgrade for Tommy.

Firefighter

The Firefighter mission tasks you with extinguishing burning vehicles and pedestrians across Vice City. This mission can be quite chaotic but offers good cash rewards.

• Starting Point: Any Fire Truck vehicle. Find them parked at fire stations (e.g., Downtown, Little Havana).
• How to Start: Enter a Fire Truck and press the designated mission start button.
• Strategy:
  • Water Cannon: Use the water cannon (activated by the attack button) to extinguish fires. Aim carefully!
  • Prioritize: The mini-map will highlight burning targets. Prioritize vehicles that are about to explode and pedestrians who are actively burning.
  • Vehicle Damage: Fire Trucks are durable but not invincible. Avoid head-on collisions.
  • Reward: Completing Level 12 of the Firefighter mission makes Tommy fireproof, a fantastic defensive bonus.

Vigilante

The Vigilante mission puts you in the shoes of a crime-fighting hero, hunting down criminals across Vice City. This mission is a great way to earn money and practice your combat skills.

• Starting Point: Any Police Vehicle (e.g., Police Car, Enforcer, Rhino, Hunter).
• How to Start: Enter a police vehicle and press the designated mission start button.
• Strategy:
  • Targeting: The mini-map will display the locations of criminals. Drive to their location and eliminate them.
  • Weaponry: Use your vehicle as a weapon, or exit to engage criminals on foot with firearms.
  • Wanted Levels: Be mindful of your wanted level. While you are a "vigilante," the police will still pursue you if you commit crimes in their presence.
  • Rhino/Hunter: Using a Rhino tank or Hunter helicopter makes this mission significantly easier due to their superior firepower and durability.
  • Reward: Completing Level 12 of the Vigilante mission increases Tommy's maximum armor to 150.

Pizza Boy

The Pizza Boy mission requires you to deliver pizzas on a scooter within a time limit. It's a relatively straightforward mission but can be tricky due to the scooter's fragility.

• Starting Point: Pizza This restaurant in Downtown.
• How to Start: Enter the Pizza Boy scooter parked outside Pizza This.
• Strategy:
  • Scooter Handling: The Faggio scooter is fast but easily damaged. Drive carefully to avoid losing pizzas or getting knocked off.
  • Delivery: Drive to the marked customer locations and throw pizzas at them (using the attack button).
  • Time Management: You have a limited number of pizzas and a timer. Plan your route efficiently.
  • Reward: Completing Level 10 of the Pizza Boy mission increases Tommy's maximum health to 150.

Sunshine Autos Import Garage

Once you purchase Sunshine Autos for $50,000, you unlock the Import Garage missions. These involve finding and delivering specific vehicles to the garage. There are four lists, each requiring different types of cars.

• Starting Point: Sunshine Autos asset in Little Havana.
• How to Start: Check the blackboard inside the Sunshine Autos garage.
• Strategy:
  • Vehicle Locations: Many of these vehicles spawn in specific areas or are driven by certain NPCs. Refer to the table below for common locations.
  • Damage: Deliver vehicles with as little damage as possible for a higher reward. Minor dents are acceptable, but significant damage will reduce your payout.
  • Wanted Levels: Stealing certain vehicles will immediately trigger a wanted level. Be prepared to evade the police.
  • Storage: If you find a rare vehicle but aren't ready to deliver it, you can store it in one of your safehouse garages.

Rewards: Completing each list provides a cash bonus and unlocks a new vehicle for sale at Sunshine Autos. Completing all four lists will generate a daily income from Sunshine Autos, which can be collected from the office.

Cone Crazy

Cone Crazy is a time trial mission involving a single vehicle and a series of cones to navigate.

• Starting Point: Top level of the multi-story car park in Ocean Beach.
• How to Start: Enter the parked Stallion.
• Strategy:
  • Precision Driving: You must drive through a sequence of cones without hitting them, within a strict time limit.

PCJ Playground

PCJ Playground is another time trial, this time on a PCJ 600 motorcycle, requiring you to collect checkpoints across a challenging course.

• Starting Point: Top level of the multi-story car park in Ocean Beach.
• How to Start: Enter the parked PCJ 600.
• Strategy:
  • Motorcycle Skills: Master the PCJ 600's handling, especially for tight turns and jumps.
  • Checkpoint Order: The checkpoints often require creative routes and precision jumps.

Dirt Ring

The Dirt Ring is a challenging off-road race inside the Hyman Memorial Stadium.

• Starting Point: Hyman Memorial Stadium in Downtown (open at specific in-game times).
• How to Start: Enter the stadium and find the parked Sanchez.
• Strategy:
  • Off-Road Handling: The Sanchez is designed for off-road, but the course is treacherous.
  • Checkpoint Race: Collect all checkpoints within the time limit.
  • Jumps: The course features numerous ramps and jumps. Maintain speed for successful landings.

Bloodring

The Bloodring is a demolition derby event held inside the Hyman Memorial Stadium.

• Starting Point: Hyman Memorial Stadium in Downtown (open at specific in-game times).
• How to Start: Enter the stadium and find the parked Bloodring Banger.
• Strategy:
  • Survival: Your primary goal is to survive and collect checkpoints while other drivers try to destroy you.
  • Damage: Your vehicle will take heavy damage. Look for repair pickups (wrench icons) on the track.

Hot Ring

The Hot Ring is a stock car race inside the Hyman Memorial Stadium.

• How to Start: Enter the stadium and find the parked Hotring Racer.
• Strategy:
  • Racing Line: Stick to the optimal racing line to maintain speed and avoid collisions.
