Hunter-Chopper

Defeat the Hunter-Chopper boss in Half-Life 2's Water Hazard. Target its rotor with your hovercraft's pulse rifle and dodge incoming mines.

Location: Chapter 4: Water Hazard

The Hunter-Chopper is your first major vehicle boss. You'll encounter it during the hovercraft chase sequence. It's heavily armored and fires rockets and drops mines.

Strategy:

  1. Stay Mobile: The most crucial aspect is to keep your hovercraft moving. The chopper's rockets are slow but powerful, and its mines can quickly disable your vehicle.
  2. Target the Rotor: The chopper's primary weak point is its top rotor. Aim your hovercraft's mounted pulse rifle at it. You'll see sparks and smoke when you hit it.
  3. Dodge Mines: When the chopper drops mines, quickly steer around them. They explode on contact or after a short delay.
  4. Utilize Explosive Barrels: In some areas, you'll find explosive barrels floating in the water or on the banks. Shoot these when the chopper is nearby for extra damage.
  5. Repair Your Hovercraft: Look for small repair stations along the canals (usually marked by a blue light) to restore your hovercraft's health. You'll need to dismount to activate them.
  6. Final Stand: The chase culminates in a large open area where the chopper will make its final stand. Continue to circle it, firing at the rotor, and dodging its attacks until it explodes.
