Level Progression
Welcome, aspiring architects of chaos and clumsy parkour enthusiasts! This comprehensive guide will walk you through the intricate (and often hilarious) process of navigating each level in Human: Fall Flat. Unlike traditional RPGs, "level progression" here refers to advancing through the game's distinct environments, each presenting unique physics-based puzzles and traversal challenges. There are no experience points or skill trees; your progression is measured by your mastery of Bob's wobbly physics and your ability to think outside the box (or, more accurately, to climb over, under, or through it).
Each level is a self-contained sandbox, and while there's often a "critical path," experimentation is key. Don't be afraid to try unconventional solutions!
The "Mansion" Level: Your First Steps
The Mansion is your introductory playground, designed to teach you the fundamental mechanics of movement, grabbing, and object manipulation. Think of it as your tutorial, but with more opportunities for accidental self-flinging.
Initial Objectives & Movement
- Wake Up! You begin in a small, enclosed room. Your first task is simply to stand up. Use the left stick to move and the right stick to control Bob's arms. Practice grabbing with the shoulder buttons (L1/R1 or LB/RB).
- Doorway Dilemma: To exit the starting room, you'll find a simple wooden door.
- Strategy 1 (Push): Grab the door handle (or any part of the door) with both hands and push forward.
- Strategy 2 (Pull): Grab the door handle and pull backward.
- Strategy 3 (Climb): For the truly adventurous, you can grab the top of the door frame and pull yourself over, though this is overkill for the first door.
The Living Room & Lever Puzzle
Upon exiting the first room, you'll enter a larger living area. Your goal here is to open the large double doors leading to the next section.
- Locate the Lever: Look for a small, red lever on the wall to the right of the double doors.
- Activate the Lever:
- Approach the lever and grab it with one hand.
- Pull the lever down firmly. This will retract the bolts on the double doors.
- Open the Double Doors: Once the bolts are retracted, grab one of the double doors with both hands and pull them open.
The Garden & Wall Climb
Beyond the double doors lies a small garden area with a high wall blocking your path. This introduces the crucial climbing mechanic.
- Approach the Wall: Walk up to the tall stone wall.
- Initiate Climb:
- Jump towards the wall.
- As you jump, extend both arms and grab the top edge of the wall with L1 and R1 (or LB and RB).
- Once you have a firm grip, pull yourself up by moving the left stick forward and wiggling your arms. This often requires a rhythmic pull-and-release motion with your arms to "walk" your hands up the wall.
- Once your torso is over the edge, you can usually pull yourself fully onto the platform.
- Alternative (Advanced) - Crate Stack: Occasionally, a small wooden crate might spawn near the wall. You can grab this crate, drag it to the wall, and use it as a boost to make climbing easier. This teaches you environmental object manipulation for height.
The Final Jump & Exit
After scaling the garden wall, you'll find yourself on a ledge overlooking a lower area with the level's exit portal.
- The Gap: There will be a gap between your current ledge and the platform leading to the exit.
- The Jump:
- Take a running start (hold forward on the left stick).
- Jump at the edge of the platform.
- Crucially, extend your arms forward mid-jump to grab the edge of the destination platform. This "reach" can extend your jump distance significantly.
- Pull yourself up onto the final platform.
- Enter the Portal: Walk into the glowing exit portal to complete the Mansion level and transition to the next environment. Congratulations, you've mastered the basics!
