Whirlpools

Learn how to find and navigate the tricky whirlpools in Mario Party Superstars. Discover hidden items and secret paths to make your journey easier.

Alright, so you're out on the ocean surfing and you've stumbled upon some whirlpools. Don't worry, they're not as scary as they look! Getting sucked in just means you'll end up underwater for a bit, but there are actually a couple of different ones, and each leads to something interesting.

Whirlpool 1: Southeast Region

First up, this whirlpool is located pretty far east and south from the East Beanbean starting area – think about 4 screens east and 2 screens south. Once you're pulled under, Luigi can actually dig up 4 Chuckle Beans in the area below. After that, you'll want to swim west, carefully over some spikes, to find a 5th Chuckle Bean to dig up. Keep swimming south from there and drop down to a lower area. In the west room, use your High Jump to reach an upper ledge, and then hop into the yellow pipe. This will take you to Gwarhar Lagoon. To get back to the ocean, head east 1 screen and north 1 screen. You'll need to use your Ultra Hammer to clear out a black rock blocking the surfboard slot, which will let you return.

Whirlpool 2: Near Joke's End

The second whirlpool is found a little west and south of the land strip of Joke's End – just 1 screen south and 1 screen west. When you go underwater, swim south and you'll find a yellow pipe to go up. You'll pop out on a small island where a Monty Mole is hanging out. Chat with him, and he'll give you a 1-Up Super. Head back down to the water and swim south another room. Now, you'll need to use Mario's Firebrand ability to light up an alcove. This clears away a reef that's blocking your path. Continue swimming to the west end of this room, then head into the south area. You'll see the wreckage of the S.S. Chuckola. Swim up the ledges and over the ship, and then exit to the west. This will bring you all the way back to East Beanbean.
