Recruiting Thane, known as "The Assassin," is one of the dossier missions available in Mass Effect 2. Completing this mission adds Thane to your squad. It is one of the four original dossier missions that, once all are completed, will trigger the Horizon mission and begin Act 2 of the game.

The dossier missions are crucial for expanding your team. While the order of recruitment for most squad members is flexible, it is suggested to recruit Mordin first. This allows you to gain access to upgrades in the Research Lab on the Normandy earlier in your playthrough.
