Tactics are a powerful new mechanic in Medieval Dynasty, offering significant advantages in combat. While they have long cooldowns, items can reduce this. New Tactics are unlocked by increasing your number of bodyguards, which can be increased further through Ultimate Challenges.

Many tactics gain an additional benefit called Dramatic Success when used under specific conditions, though some, like Battle Roar, trigger it automatically. Tactics can also interrupt enemy attacks, which is particularly useful against strong opponents like Lu Bu.

Useful Tactics:

  • Ceaseless Fury: Useful for interrupting specific Red Attacks, like Lu Bu's grab at Xia Pi.
  • Stone Throw (29 guards): Deals 3 Fortitude damage and is excellent for destroying enemy fortitude, effective for a long time.
  • Cavalry Charge (auto): The first tactic to lower enemy morale. For Dramatic Success, hit an officer near the end of their charge; use from a distance.
  • Battle Roar (38 guards): The second tactic to lower enemy morale, but its effect is short-lived.
  • Catapult Barrage (44 guards) and Chariot Charge (47 guards): The two strongest tactics, equip them as soon as they are available.
  • Volley/Fire Volley/Charge: Decent until better tactics are unlocked. Their Dramatic Success is highly map-dependent, so don't focus on triggering it.

Other tactics are situational, like Order to Defend/Protect, and can be used when no better options are available.

Personal Setup Example:

  • Stone Throw (later replaced by Catapult Barrage)
  • Battle Roar (later replaced by Chariot Charge)
  • Calvary Charge
  • Charge and Ceaseless Fury (especially against Lu Bu)

Maximizing Tactic Effects:

Tactics that reduce enemy morale/courage are the most effective. For timed Ultimate Challenges, use Treatise of Tactics at the start. By the time you face the boss, your tactics will be ready. Lower enemy morale first, then use powerful battle arts, Musou Rage, and more battle arts. After this, use a Panacea, deploy tactics again, and repeat.

Note: If using Musou Bond instead of Panacea, deploy tactics before switching partners, as you cannot use them after switching.

With the right items and tactics, most Ultimate Challenges are winnable. The exception is Lu Bu at Xiap Pi, where items are disallowed, but tactics can still be used. Refer to the Lu Bu section for more details.
