The insidious influence of Phazon is a constant threat throughout Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Understanding how to manage and even weaponize this dangerous substance is crucial for survival. Your PED Suit is a marvel of Galactic Federation engineering, allowing you to channel Phazon for devastating attacks, but at a significant cost.

Hypermode Activation

Once you acquire the PED Suit on the G.F.S. Olympus, you gain the ability to enter Hypermode. This powerful state allows Samus to unleash Phazon-infused attacks, dealing massive damage to enemies. To activate Hypermode:

1. Press the - (Minus) Button on your Wii Remote.
2. Observe your Phazon Meter, located above your Energy Tank display.
3. While in Hypermode, your beam attacks become significantly more potent, and you can fire Hyper Missiles by holding A and pressing + (Plus).

Warning: While in Hypermode, your Phazon Meter will steadily deplete. If it empties completely, Samus will become Corrupted, leading to a game over. Always monitor your Phazon levels!

Managing Phazon Levels

Maintaining a healthy balance of Phazon is key to utilizing Hypermode effectively without succumbing to corruption. Here's how to manage your Phazon:

• Exiting Hypermode: To safely exit Hypermode and prevent corruption, press the - (Minus) Button again before your Phazon Meter is fully depleted. This will purge the accumulated Phazon.
• Phazon Overload: If you remain in Hypermode for too long and your Phazon Meter reaches critical levels, Samus will enter a state of Phazon Overload. In this state, you cannot exit Hypermode normally, and you'll take continuous damage until you either defeat all enemies in the area or your Phazon Meter empties, resulting in corruption.
• Phazon Sources: Certain enemies and environmental hazards can inject Phazon into Samus, increasing your Phazon Meter. While this can be dangerous, it can also be strategically used to quickly fill your meter for Hypermode if you're low on Phazon.

Hypermode Strategies

Hypermode is not just a last resort; it's a strategic tool. Here are some ways to effectively incorporate it into your combat:

• Boss Battles: Many bosses, particularly those infused with Phazon, are highly vulnerable to Hypermode attacks. Activating Hypermode during their vulnerable phases can drastically shorten these encounters. For example, during the final boss encounter on Bryyo, Hypermode is essential for dealing significant damage to the Seed.
• Crowd Control: When facing large groups of aggressive enemies, a quick burst of Hypermode can clear the area efficiently, saving you valuable energy.
• Hyper Ball: After acquiring the Hyper Ball upgrade (typically found after the Bryyo Seed boss), you can activate Hypermode while in Morph Ball form. This allows you to lay Phazon-infused bombs, useful for destroying Phazon-shielded obstacles or dealing damage to enemies in tight spaces.
• Environmental Interaction: Some environmental puzzles or barriers may require Hypermode-enhanced attacks to overcome. Keep an eye out for glowing Phazon-infused objects that react to your Hyper Beam.
