Enemy Database
Welcome, bounty hunter, to the most comprehensive guide to the hostile lifeforms you'll encounter across the myriad worlds of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. This database is designed to give you the tactical edge, detailing enemy weaknesses, attack patterns, and the most efficient ways to dispatch them. Remember, knowledge is power, and in the unforgiving reaches of the galaxy, it's often the difference between survival and becoming another forgotten casualty.
Common Foes
These enemies are frequently encountered and often serve as a warm-up for more significant threats. While individually weak, they can be dangerous in groups.
Space Pirate Trooper
- Location: Primarily found in the Phazon Mining Complex and Garrison Outposts on Elysia.
- Description: The standard grunt of the Space Pirate forces. Equipped with a basic plasma rifle and light armor.
- Weakness: Power Beam (charged shots for quick takedowns), Missiles (one-shot kill).
- Strategy:
- Maintain distance and use charged Power Beam shots.
- If they close in, a well-placed Missile will instantly neutralize them.
- Watch for their grenade throws; these can be avoided by strafing.
- In groups, prioritize those with clear lines of sight to you.
- Drops: Small Energy, Missile Ammo.
Flickerbat
- Location: Abundant in the subterranean caverns of Aetherian Depths and the overgrown sections of Veridia Prime.
- Description: Small, flying creatures that emit a disorienting sonic shriek before swooping in to attack.
- Weakness: Rapid-fire Power Beam, Beam Combos (e.g., Plasma Beam Combo).
- Strategy:
- These enemies are fast but have low health. Use rapid Power Beam fire to track and eliminate them before they can shriek.
- If you have the Plasma Beam, a single shot will often incinerate them.
- Their sonic shriek temporarily blurs your vision; try to eliminate them from a distance to avoid this.
- They often appear in swarms; use the Lock-On feature to quickly cycle targets.
- Drops: Small Energy.
Blastcap
- Location: Found clinging to walls and ceilings in humid environments, particularly in the Hydroponics Labs of Elysia and the Fungal Caves of Veridia Prime.
- Description: Stationary fungal growths that explode when approached or shot, releasing toxic spores.
- Weakness: Any weapon from a distance.
- Strategy:
- Do NOT approach them directly. Their explosion deals significant damage and can inflict a temporary poison status effect.
- Use your Power Beam from a safe distance to trigger their explosion.
- If you must pass through an area with many Blastcaps, clear a path by shooting them from afar before proceeding.
- The Charge Beam can clear multiple Blastcaps in a small radius.
- Drops: None.
Elite and Specialized Threats
These enemies pose a greater challenge, often requiring specific tactics or weapon upgrades to defeat efficiently. Understanding their patterns is crucial.
Elite Pirate Commando
- Location: Encountered in fortified sections of the Phazon Mining Complex, Garrison Outposts, and during the assault on the Pirate Homeworld.
- Description: Heavily armored Space Pirates equipped with advanced weaponry, including energy shields and rocket launchers.
- Weakness: Missiles (to break shields), Wave Beam (bypasses shields), Super Missile (devastating damage).
- Strategy:
- Their energy shields must be broken before direct damage can be dealt. A single Missile will temporarily disable the shield.
- The Wave Beam can bypass their shields entirely, making it an excellent choice for sustained damage.
- Once the shield is down, target their exposed head or chest for critical damage.
- Watch out for their rocket attacks; these are slow but powerful. Dodge by strafing or using the Morph Ball to quickly roll away.
- For a quick kill, break their shield with a Missile, then immediately follow up with a Super Missile.
- Drops: Large Energy, Missile Ammo, sometimes a Power Bomb Expansion (rare).
Phazon Crawler
- Location: Exclusive to areas heavily corrupted by Phazon, such as the Phazon Core and certain sections of the Impact Crater.
- Description: Mutated creatures infused with Phazon, making them highly resilient and capable of Phazon-based attacks. They often glow with a distinct blue aura.
- Weakness: Nova Beam (penetrates Phazon armor), Hypermode (direct Phazon energy).
- Strategy:
- Standard weapons are largely ineffective against their Phazon-infused hide.
- The Nova Beam is your primary tool here; it will pierce their defenses and deal significant damage.
- When your Hypermode is available, activating it and firing Phazon shots will rapidly deplete their health. Be mindful of your Phazon corruption meter.
- They often charge directly at Samus; use your Space Jump or Boost Ball to evade their attacks.
- Some variants can fire small Phazon projectiles; these can be absorbed with the Energy Transfer Module if you have it.
- Drops: Large Energy, sometimes a Phazon Unit (for crafting).
Guardian Sentinel
- Location: Found guarding ancient Chozo artifacts and critical pathways within the Chozo Ruins Remnants and the Sanctuary Fortress.
- Description: Ancient Chozo constructs, now repurposed or corrupted. They possess formidable defenses and energy-based attacks.
- Weakness: Varies by model, typically Plasma Beam (for metallic components), Ice Beam (to freeze and shatter).
- Strategy:
- Model Alpha: These sentinels have a rotating energy shield. Wait for an opening in the shield to fire your Plasma Beam at their core. Alternatively, a charged Ice Beam shot can temporarily freeze the shield, allowing you to hit the core.
- Model Beta: Equipped with energy cannons. Dodge their sustained beam attacks and target the glowing conduits on their back with the Plasma Beam.
- Model Gamma: These units are airborne and deploy smaller drones. Use the Ice Beam to freeze the drones, then shatter them with a Missile. Once the drones are gone, target the Sentinel with charged Plasma Beam shots.
- Always be aware of their attack patterns; they are highly predictable but punishing if you mistime your dodges.
- Drops: Large Energy, Missile Ammo, sometimes a Chozo Artifact Fragment.
