Enemy Database
Welcome to the comprehensive Enemy Database for Metroid Prime Remastered! This section provides detailed strategies, weaknesses, and scan data locations for every hostile creature you'll encounter on Tallon IV. Mastering these encounters is crucial for survival and achieving 100% completion. Remember to always scan new enemies with your Scan Visor (press and hold the 'L' button) to add them to your Log Book and reveal their vulnerabilities.
Space Pirate Faction
The Space Pirates are your primary adversaries, a technologically advanced and ruthless organization. Understanding their various forms and tactics is key to dismantling their operations.
- Space Pirate
- Location: Phendrana Drifts, Phazon Mines, Tallon Overworld. First encountered in the Tallon Overworld, particularly in the Landing Site and Temple Hall after the initial tutorial.
- Strategy: These are standard infantry. A few shots from your Power Beam will suffice. For groups, charge your Power Beam for a wider blast or use a Missile (press 'R' + 'Y') for a quick kill. They often drop Missile Ammo and Energy.
- Scan Data: Easily obtained from the first few you encounter.
- Elite Pirate
- Location: Phazon Mines. Specifically found in the Elite Research and Omega Research areas.
- Strategy: These heavily armored pirates are immune to standard Power Beam shots. You must use Missiles to crack their armor. Target their chest plate when it glows. Once exposed, switch back to the Power Beam for sustained damage. Alternatively, a well-placed Super Missile (Charge Beam + Missile) will instantly destroy them.
- Scan Data: Available from the first Elite Pirate you face in the Phazon Mines.
- Shadow Pirate
- Location: Phazon Mines. Predominantly in the deeper, Phazon-infused sections like Phazon Processing Center.
- Strategy: These cloaked pirates are difficult to target. Use your Thermal Visor (press 'Down' on D-Pad) to see their heat signatures. Once visible, they are vulnerable to all weapon types, though Missiles are effective for quick disposal. They often try to flank you, so keep moving.
- Scan Data: Scan them while they are cloaked with the Thermal Visor for complete data.
Tallon IV Wildlife
The indigenous creatures of Tallon IV range from docile to deadly. Many have evolved unique defenses or attacks.
- Zoomer
- Location: Tallon Overworld, Chozo Ruins. Found clinging to walls and ceilings in areas like the Main Plaza and Ruined Shrine.
- Strategy: These small, insect-like creatures are a nuisance more than a threat. A single Power Beam shot will eliminate them. They drop small amounts of Energy.
- Scan Data: Scan the first one you see in the Chozo Ruins.
- Beetle
- Location: Tallon Overworld, Chozo Ruins. Common ground-dwelling creatures in areas such as the Landing Site and Ruined Gallery.
- Strategy: Beetles charge at Samus. Dodge their attack and fire a Power Beam shot. They are easily defeated. Some variations, like the Plazmite, are immune to the Power Beam and require specific beam types later in the game.
- Scan Data: Scan them early in the Tallon Overworld.
- Puddle Spore
- Location: Chozo Ruins. Found in watery areas like the Watery Hall and Reflecting Pool.
- Strategy: These aquatic plants are stationary. They release spores that deal minor damage if you get too close. Destroy them with a few Power Beam shots from a distance.
- Scan Data: Scan them in the Chozo Ruins.
Phazon Mutants
These creatures have been corrupted by Phazon, making them more dangerous and often granting them new abilities. They are typically found in the Phazon Mines and Impact Crater.
- Fission Metroid
- Location: Phazon Mines, Impact Crater. Encountered frequently in the later stages of the Phazon Mines, particularly in Phazon Processing Center.
- Strategy: These dangerous Metroids split into two smaller, invulnerable halves when damaged by a normal beam. To defeat them, you must use the Plasma Beam (acquired in Phendrana Drifts, Research Lab Aether) to freeze them, then quickly switch to the Power Beam and fire a Super Missile. Alternatively, the X-Ray Visor (acquired in Phazon Mines, Mining Site A) can reveal their core, allowing a single charged Plasma Beam shot to destroy them.
- Scan Data: Scan them with the X-Ray Visor active for full details on their unique properties.
