The End Regions — Minecraft Walkthrough
The End is Minecraft's final dimension, a stark, alien landscape where the Ender Dragon awaits. This guide will detail how to reach The End, the challenges you'll face, and the unique resources it holds.
The End is a dimension characterized by its void-like atmosphere, floating islands, and the presence of Endermen. It is a desolate and dangerous place, primarily serving as the arena for the game's ultimate boss battle against the Ender Dragon. Successfully defeating the dragon opens up new exploration possibilities and access to unique structures.
Reaching The End:
To access The End, you must first locate a Stronghold. Strongholds are underground structures that contain an End Portal. You can find Strongholds by using Eyes of Ender. Craft Eyes of Ender by combining an Ender Pearl (dropped by Endermen) with Blaze Powder (crafted from Blaze Rods found in Nether Fortresses).
- Throw Eyes of Ender: Right-click with an Eye of Ender in hand to throw it into the air. It will fly in the direction of the nearest Stronghold.
- Follow the Eyes: Follow the direction the Eyes of Ender fly. They will eventually fall to the ground or break. Repeat this process until the Eye of Ender flies downwards, indicating you are directly above a Stronghold.
- Dig Down: Dig down carefully to find the Stronghold.
- Locate the End Portal: Explore the Stronghold until you find the End Portal room. It's a room with a frame of 12 End Portal blocks surrounding a pool of lava.
- Activate the Portal: Place Eyes of Ender into each empty slot of the End Portal frame. You will need up to 12 Eyes of Ender, as some slots may already be filled. Once all slots are filled, the portal will activate, creating a starry, purple gateway.
The End Dimension:
Upon entering The End, you will spawn on a central island. The primary inhabitants are Endermen, and the landscape is composed of End Stone. The main objective here is to defeat the Ender Dragon.
- Endermen: These tall, black creatures are passive unless provoked. They teleport and can be dangerous in groups. Avoid looking directly at them unless you intend to fight. They drop Ender Pearls when killed.
- End Stone: The primary block of The End. It's blast-resistant and can be mined with any pickaxe.
- Chorus Plants: These strange, purple plants grow on the islands. They drop Chorus Fruit, which can be eaten to teleport randomly, similar to Endermen. When cooked, Chorus Fruit becomes Popped Chorus Fruit, which can be used to craft Chorus Flowers, the building blocks for Purpur Blocks.
The Ender Dragon Fight:
The Ender Dragon is the boss of The End. It flies around the island, healing itself from Ender Crystals located on top of obsidian pillars. Your first priority is to destroy these crystals, as they will continuously heal the dragon.
- Destroy Ender Crystals: Use a bow and arrows to shoot them from a distance. Some crystals are protected by iron bars, requiring you to climb the pillars or use blocks to get a clear shot.
- Attack the Dragon: Once all crystals are destroyed, the dragon will periodically perch on the central portal structure. This is your opportunity to attack it with melee weapons.
- Dragon's Attacks: The dragon breathes a damaging purple 'dragon's breath' cloud. Avoid standing in these clouds.
Post-Dragon Rewards:
Upon defeating the Ender Dragon, it will explode, dropping a large amount of experience orbs and the Dragon Egg. A portal back to the Overworld will activate, and a gateway to the outer End islands will also appear.
- Dragon Egg: A unique decorative item. Right-clicking it will cause it to teleport. To collect it, you must break the block beneath it and then place a torch or other non-solid block where the egg will fall.
- Outer End Islands: The gateway leads to procedurally generated islands with End Cities and End Ships. These structures contain valuable loot, including Elytra (wings that allow for gliding) and Shulker Boxes (portable chests).
The End offers a sificant challenge but rewards players with powerful items and the satisfaction of completing the game's primary objective.
