Heavy Bowgun
The Heavy Bowgun is a ranged weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds, utilizing various Bowgun Ammo types. While specific details on its mechanics are still emerging, performance improvements for the game across all platforms suggest a more responsive and impactful combat experience, which will benefit ranged weapon users. The game's target performance includes 4K resolution at 60FPS for 'Prioritize Framerate' and 4K at 30FPS for 'Prioritize Graphics' on PlayStation 5 and Xbox X, ensuring a smooth experience for Heavy Bowgun users.
The development team has focused on performance improvements across all platforms following feedback from the Open Beta Test (OBT). Yuya Tokuda highlighted that the game now runs at target resolutions and framerates:
- PlayStation 5: 4K Resolution at 60FPS (Prioritize Framerate) or 4K Resolution at 30FPS (Prioritize Graphics).
- PlayStation 5 Pro: Will feature even better graphics with a Day 1 patch (February 28, 2025) for Enhanced Pro features.
- Xbox X: Targets the same performance as PlayStation 5.
- Xbox S: 1080 Resolution at 30FPS.
- PC (Steam): Performance will depend on user hardware and settings, with ongoing efforts to improve performance. A PC Benchmark tool is being considered to help players check hardware compatibility.
The rendering bug identified during the OBT has been fixed, contributing to a more connected and weighty feel for all in-game actions, including those performed with the Heavy Bowgun. The team is also working to potentially reduce the minimum recommended graphics board specifications, making the game accessible to more players.
