Seething Bazelgeuse

The Seething Bazelgeuse, a variant of the familiar Bazelgeuse, is a terrifying force in the high-rank and Master Rank tiers of Monster Hunter: World. Known for its explosive dive-bombing attacks and the volatile nature of its scales, this monster demands respect and a well-thought-out strategy.

Seething Bazelgeuse is an elder dragon that specializes in aerial assaults and explosive payloads. Unlike its regular counterpart, the Seething variant's scales are far more volatile, detonating with greater frequency and intensity. It can be found in various locales, often appearing as an invader during other hunts. Its sature move involves flying high into the air, dropping explosive scales, and then diving down to detonate them in a massive blast.

Weaknesses and Resistances

The Seething Bazelgeuse is weak to Ice and Thunder elemental damage. It has high resistances to Fire and Dragon. For status effects, it is moderately susceptible to Poison and Blast, but highly resistant to Paralysis and Sleep.

Attack Patterns and Strategies

  • Explosive Scale Drop: The Seething Bazelgeuse will fly up and drop clusters of volatile scales that detonate after a short delay. These can be triggered by attacks or by the monster itself. Avoid standing in the marked areas.
  • Dive Bomb: It will fly high, then dive directly at the hunter, detonating scales upon impact. Dodge to the side as it descends.
  • Wing Buffet: A powerful gust of wind from its wings can knock hunters back.
  • Tail Swipe: A sweeping attack with its tail.
  • Explosive Roar: When enraged, it can unleash a roar that also causes nearby scales to detonate.

The Seething Bazelgeuse's weak points are its head and wings. Weapons with high ice or thunder elemental damage are highly recommended. Consider using armor with skills like Evade Window, Evade Extender, and Earplugs to mitigate its aggressive attacks and roars. Bringing Flash Pods can be useful to ground it when it takes to the air, creating openings for damage. However, be cautious, as it can detonate scales even when stunned. Breaking its wings can reduce the frequency of its scale drops. If you're struggling with the explosions, the Temporal Mantle or Evasion Mantle can provide temporary immunity.

Recommended Gear

For high-rank, prioritize armor with good defense and skills that enhance mobility and survivability. The Odogaron set offers Crit Eye and Speed Sharpening, while the Kirin set provides Thunder Attack. Weapons like the Glavenus Bardred (Great Sword) or the Kirin Thunder III (Switch Axe) can exploit its weaknesses. Always carry Max Potions, Mega Potions, and Flash Pods.
