How to Beat Hadern, the Deliverer (Tutorial Boss)

Defeat Hadern, the Deliverer, in Mortal Shell by mastering Harden and counter-attacks with the Hallowed Sword. Learn his attack patterns.

Overview

Hadern is your first true challenge, encountered in the tutorial area. He serves as a test of your understanding of Harden and basic combat. He uses the Hallowed Sword and mimics your abilities.

Phase 1 Strategy

• Attack Pattern: Hadern uses standard Hallowed Sword combos, including light and heavy attacks. He will also use Harden.
• Harden & Counter: This is the core strategy. Harden through his attacks and immediately counter-attack during his recovery.
• Watch His Harden: When Hadern Hardens, do not attack. Wait for his Harden to break, then resume your assault.
• Dodge: Dodge his heavier attacks to create openings.
• Parry: Hadern's attacks are parryable. Practice your parry timing here, as it's a valuable skill for the rest of the game.

Phase 2 Strategy (Enraged)

• Enrage: Once his health drops to about 50%, Hadern becomes more aggressive and his attacks are slightly faster.
• New Attacks: He might use a few more advanced Hallowed Sword abilities, but the core strategy remains the same.
• Patience: Don't get greedy. Stick to the Harden-and-counter rhythm.

Rewards

• Hallowed Sword: The weapon you'll use for the early game.
• Tar & Glimpses: A small amount of currency.
