Companions are unique NPCs you can recruit from taverns. They have their own personalities, backstories, and starting skills. They are invaluable for filling gaps in your party's skill set and can be equipped with gear just like your character.

Recruiting Companions:

Visit taverns in towns and speak to the patrons. Companions will introduce themselves and offer to join you for a small fee. Some companions dislike others, so be mindful of potential conflicts within your party. For example, Borcha dislikes Marnid, and Rolf dislikes Lezalit. These conflicts can lead to morale penalties or even companions leaving your party.

Managing Companion Skills:

Companions gain experience and level up just like your character. You can allocate their attribute and skill points. It's best to specialize companions in specific party skills. For example:

  • Healer: Focus on Wound Treatment, Surgery, First Aid (e.g., Ymira, Jeremus).
  • Scout: Focus on Pathfinding, Spotting, Tracking (e.g., Deshavi, Bunduk).
  • Engineer: Focus on Engineer (e.g., Artimenner).
  • Trainer: Focus on Trainer (e.g., Borcha, Marnid).

By delegating these skills, your main character can focus on combat or leadership skills. Remember to equip your companions with good armor and weapons, as they fight alongside you in battles.
