Speed Cards are the primary method of upgrading your car's performance in Need for Speed Payback. Each car has six slots for Speed Cards: Engine, Turbo, ECU, Nitrous, Suspension, and Gearbox. Each card has a level (1-18), a brand, and up to three perks.

Speed Card Attributes:

• Level: Higher level cards provide greater stat boosts.
• Brand: There are six brands (Outlaw, Americana, Carbon, Chidori, Nextech, and Bounty Hunter), each offering a bonus if you equip three or six cards of the same brand. For example, Outlaw boosts Nitrous Power, while Carbon boosts Top Speed.
• Perks: These are secondary bonuses on a card, such as 'Acceleration Boost', 'Brake Power', 'Damage Reduction', 'Drift Angle', etc. They provide small but significant improvements.

Optimizing Your Build:

1. Match Car Class: Always equip Speed Cards appropriate for your car's class (Race, Drift, Off-Road, Drag, Runner).
2. Prioritize Core Stats: For Race/Runner/Drag, focus on Acceleration, Top Speed, and Nitrous. For Drift, focus on Nitrous and Brake. For Off-Road, focus on Acceleration and Brake.
3. Brand Bonuses: Aim for 3 or 6 cards of a single brand to activate powerful set bonuses. For example, 6 Outlaw cards provide a massive Nitrous Power boost.
4. Perk Stacking: Look for cards with perks that complement your build. Stacking multiple 'Nitrous Power' perks, for instance, can make a huge difference.
5. Tune-Up Shops & Shipments: Acquire new Speed Cards from Tune-Up Shops (which refresh every 10 minutes) or by opening Shipments (loot boxes earned through gameplay or purchased).
6. Reroll Perks: You can spend in-game currency to reroll the perks on a Speed Card, allowing for fine-tuning.

Experiment with different combinations of brands and perks to find the optimal setup for each of your cars and driving styles. A well-tuned car with synergistic Speed Cards will outperform a higher-level car with a haphazard setup.
