Base Sharing & Multiplayer Bases
No Man's Sky's multiplayer features allow you to share your creations with the universe. Building impressive bases and then sharing them with other players is a rewarding aspect of the game, fostering a sense of community and inspiring creativity. Understanding how base sharing works is key to showcasing your hard work.
When you build a base, it is automatically uploaded to the game's servers, making it visible to other players who visit the same planet. However, for other players to see and interact with your base, they need to be in the same system and on the same planet as you, or have the 'Network Features' enabled in their gameplay settings. Additionally, players need to have the appropriate permissions set for your base to be visible.
Enabling Base Visibility:
- Build a Base Computer: This is the core of any base and must be placed to establish ownership and enable uploading.
- Upload Your Base: Interact with the Base Computer. You'll see an option to 'Upload Base'. This sends your base's data to the servers. You can re-upload your base at any time to save changes.
- Network Settings: Ensure that 'Network Features' are enabled in your game's options menu. This allows you to see other players' bases and for them to see yours.
Visiting Other Players' Bases:
- If you are in the same system and on the same planet as another player, their base should appear automatically if they have uploaded it.
- You can also use the 'Teleport Module' at any Space Station or your own base to travel to the bases of players you have visited or who have visited yours.
Permissions:
When you interact with your Base Computer, you can set permissions for who can edit your base. You can choose to allow:
- No One: Only you can edit the base.
- Friends Only: Only players on your friends list can edit.
- Everyone: Any player can edit your base (use with caution!).
This feature is particularly useful if you want to collaborate on a large build with friends.
Multiplayer Base Building:
When playing with friends, you can all contribute to building a single, massive base. Ensure everyone has the correct permissions set. It's a great way to pool resources and creativity for truly spectacular builds. Remember that bases are tied to the planet they are built on, so if you want to revisit a base, you'll need to return to that specific planet.
