Pantheon System
The Pantheon System in Path of Exile 2 offers a robust layer of character customization, allowing you to imbue your Exile with the divine powers of fallen gods. These powers grant significant defensive and utility bonuses, crucial for surviving the increasingly dangerous encounters throughout Wraeclast and beyond. Understanding and effectively utilizing the Pantheon is paramount for any successful build.
Unlocking Pantheon Powers
The Pantheon System becomes accessible early in your journey. You'll first encounter the opportunity to choose a Major God power after defeating the Act 1 boss, Kitava's Herald, in the Chamber of Sins. Subsequently, Minor God powers unlock as you progress through specific acts and defeat their respective bosses.
- Initial Unlock: Defeat Kitava's Herald in the Chamber of Sins (Act 1). This allows you to select your first Major God power.
- Further Unlocks: Continue defeating Act bosses. Each major boss typically unlocks a new Major or Minor God option.
Major God Powers
Major God powers provide substantial, overarching defensive benefits. You can only have one Major God power active at any given time. Choosing the right Major God often depends on your build's primary defensive layers and the type of content you're facing.
Available Major Gods:
- Soul of the Brine King: Offers protection against stun and chill effects.
- Base Effect: You cannot be Stunned if you've been Stunned Recently.
- Upgrades: Requires capturing specific souls from unique monsters in Maps. For example, to gain immunity to Chill, you might need to capture the soul of Drox, the Warlord in a Tier 10+ Map.
- Soul of the Arrogant Empress: Provides damage reduction against physical and elemental hits.
- Base Effect: 10% reduced Physical Damage taken from Hits.
- Upgrades: Focus on capturing souls from powerful physical damage dealers or elemental bosses. For instance, capturing the soul of Oshabi, the Avatar of the Grove, might grant additional elemental damage reduction.
- Soul of the Lunaris: Grants movement speed and evasion bonuses, particularly useful for agile characters.
- Base Effect: 1% increased Movement Speed for each enemy nearby, up to 10%.
- Upgrades: Look for unique monsters that are fast or have evasion-based mechanics. Capturing the soul of Sirus, Awakener of Worlds, could provide a significant evasion boost.
Minor God Powers
Minor God powers offer more specialized, situational benefits. You can have one Minor God power active simultaneously with your chosen Major God. These often complement your Major God choice or shore up specific weaknesses in your build.
Available Minor Gods:
- Soul of Gruthkul: Focuses on physical damage mitigation and recovery.
- Base Effect: 1% reduced Physical Damage taken for each Hit you've taken Recently, up to 5%.
- Upgrades: Capturing souls from unique monsters that deal sustained physical damage, such as The Depraved Trinity in the Temple of Atzoatl, can enhance this effect.
- Soul of Ryslatha: Enhances flask recovery and life regeneration.
- Base Effect: Life Flasks gain 1 Charge every 3 seconds.
- Upgrades: Seek out unique monsters with strong regeneration or flask-related mechanics. Capturing the soul of The Elder might improve flask effect duration.
- Soul of Tukohama: Provides defensive bonuses while stationary or against specific enemy types.
- Base Effect: Take 2% reduced Physical Damage while stationary.
- Upgrades: Capturing souls from unique monsters that force you to stand still or have powerful projectile attacks, like Shaper's Guardians, can further empower this.
Upgrading Pantheon Powers
To unlock the full potential of your chosen Pantheon powers, you must capture the souls of specific unique monsters found throughout Wraeclast, particularly in the endgame mapping system. This process involves using a Divine Vessel on a Map Device before running a specific Map containing the required unique monster.
Walkthrough for Upgrading:
- Identify Required Soul: Open your Pantheon interface (default key 'Y'). Hover over the locked upgrade for your desired Major or Minor God power. A tooltip will display the name of the unique monster whose soul you need to capture and the Map where it can be found. For example, "Capture the soul of Drox, the Warlord in a Tier 10+ Map."
- Acquire a Divine Vessel: Divine Vessels are rare currency items that drop from various endgame content, including Map bosses, Legion encounters, and Delve. You can also trade for them with other players.
- Prepare the Map: Place the identified Map (e.g., a specific Tier 10+ Map for Drox) into your Map Device.
- Insert Divine Vessel: Place one Divine Vessel into an empty slot in the Map Device alongside your Map.
- Activate Map: Activate the Map Device to open portals.
- Defeat the Unique Monster: Enter the Map and locate and defeat the specified unique monster (e.g., Drox, the Warlord). Upon its defeat, its soul will automatically be captured by the Divine Vessel.
- Apply the Upgrade: Return to your hideout or any town. Open your Pantheon interface. The previously locked upgrade for the corresponding God power will now be available. Click on it to apply the upgrade.
Pro Tip: Keep a small stash tab dedicated to Divine Vessels and a mental note of which unique monsters you need to hunt for your current build. Prioritize upgrades that directly address your build's weaknesses or enhance its strengths against common threats.
