Boss Guides

This section provides strategies for challenging boss encounters in Persona 5 Royal, focusing on weaknesses, resistances, and recommended party setups. Understanding enemy abilities and planning your attacks are key to victory.

Black Frost

  • Resistances: Immune to Nuclear, Repels Curse.
  • Attacks: Powerful Physical attack, Mamudo (low level Curse skill, can instantly kill), Mabufu (Ice damage to everyone).
  • Strategy:
    • Do not use Nuclear or Curse attacks. Avoid using Mudoon, as a reflection could result in a Game Over.
    • Consider leaving Ann behind as Fire attacks are ineffective and Mabufu grants Black Frost an extra turn.
    • Yusuke can help with resistances.
    • Equip a Persona that resists Curse to counter Mamudo's instant kill potential. Inugami (from Madarame's Palace) Nulls Curse.
    • Jack Frost (from Madarame's Palace) Drains Ice.
    • Utilize Morgana's Lucky Punch and Ryuji/Yusuke's physical attacks for significant damage.
    • Focus on avoiding instant death from Mamudo; other attacks can be managed with accessories.

Shadow Aino/Nekomata (Mementos Request: If Cats Disappeared from the City)

  • Available: May 23rd (5/23)
  • Difficulty: D
  • Research Required: Yes
  • Location: Aiyatsubus 6th Floor
  • To Start: Talk to the mother-daughter pair near Sojiro's house in Yongen-jaya, then talk to the old man listening to the radio near the bathhouse.
  • Attacks: Giant Slice (single target Physical), Rakunda (lowers Defense), Agilao (moderate Fire damage). Charges before using Agilao.
  • Weakness: Wind.
  • Strategy:
    • Knock down Nekomata using Wind attacks.
    • When knocked down/at 0 HP, choose the correct responses to win them over. Incorrect responses restart the fight.
    • Correct Responses:
      1. Calm down
      2. Are there a lot of snowballs?
      3. They're unhappy like this
      4. The cats want to go home/Snowball is gone...

Shadow Naguri/Kin-ki (Mementos Request: Who's Been Assaulting People?)

  • Available: August 5th (8/5)
  • Difficulty: C
  • Research Required: Yes
  • Location: Kaitul 5th Floor
  • To Start: Find information at the Flower Store in Shibuya's Underground Mall. Work there 3 times. The information is obtained after your third shift, not the third time since getting the request. You can work there twice before the request, then once more after.
  • Resistances: Doesn't resist Physical.
  • Attacks: Swift Strike (3-4 light Physical attacks to everyone), Assault Dive (moderately powered Physical to one target).
  • Strategy:
    • This is a brute-force fight due to high health.
    • Use Personas that resist Physical, such as Slime.
    • Buy items that cure Fear, as it can be a significant problem.
    • Apart from Lucky Punch, its attacks are not severely damaging.
    • Ann is not at risk as there are no Ice attacks.
