Welcome, Snaggers! This comprehensive guide will walk you through every Shadow Pokémon encounter in Pokémon Colosseum, detailing their locations, the trainers who possess them, and optimal strategies for a successful snag. Remember, every Shadow Pokémon is a unique opportunity, so come prepared!

General Snagging Strategies

• False Swipe/Hold Back: These moves are invaluable for reducing a Shadow Pokémon's HP to 1 without knocking it out. Consider teaching them to a strong, fast Pokémon.
• Status Conditions: Inflicting Sleep or Paralysis significantly increases your snag rate. Avoid Poison or Burn, as they deal damage each turn and could inadvertently faint your target.
• Great Balls & Ultra Balls: Stock up! You'll need plenty, especially for later-game Shadow Pokémon.
• Timer Balls: These become incredibly effective in longer battles. If a snag is proving difficult, stall for a few turns.
• Dark Aura: Keep an eye on the Shadow Pokémon's "heart gauge." The lower it is, the easier it is to snag. Using items like Cologne or battling with it in your party will help purify it faster after snagging.
• Save Often: Before each major battle with a Shadow Pokémon, save your game. This allows you to reset if you accidentally faint the target or run out of Poké Balls.

Shadow Pokémon Encounters by Location

Phenac City

Your first taste of snagging! These early encounters are crucial for building your team.

• Shadow Makuhita (Level 30):
  • Trainer: Miror B. (first encounter)
  • Location: Phenac City, after the initial events at the Outskirt Stand.
  • Strategy: Miror B. is fought alongside his Ludicolo. Focus on lowering Makuhita's HP. It's relatively easy to snag with Great Balls.
• Shadow Bayleef (Level 30):
  • Trainer: Miror B. (second encounter)
  • Location: Phenac City, during your second visit after the Construction Lot.
  • Strategy: Similar to Makuhita, Bayleef is a straightforward snag. Use your strongest attacks to weaken it, then switch to a False Swiper if available.

Pyrite Town

This desert town is a hotbed of Shadow Pokémon activity.

• Shadow Croconaw (Level 30):
  • Trainer: Miror B.
  • Location: Pyrite Town, within the Pyrite Building.
  • Strategy: Croconaw can hit hard. Consider using a Grass-type Pokémon to resist its attacks while you weaken it.
• Shadow Quagsire (Level 30):
  • Trainer: Miror B.
  • Location: Pyrite Town, Pyrite Cave.
  • Strategy: Quagsire has a useful Water/Ground typing. Grass-type moves will be super effective. Be careful not to overdo it!
• Shadow Sudowoodo (Level 30):

The Under

Deep beneath Pyrite Town, more Shadow Pokémon await.

• Shadow Ursaring (Level 30):
  • Trainer: Venus
  • Location: The Under, The Under Subway.
  • Strategy: Ursaring is a strong Normal-type. Fighting-type moves are super effective. Be prepared for its high Attack stat.
• Shadow Misdreavus (Level 30):
  • Trainer: Venus
  • Location: The Under, The Under Subway.
  • Strategy: As a Ghost-type, Misdreavus is immune to Normal and Fighting attacks. Dark or Ghost-type moves are effective.
• Shadow Raikou (Level 40):
  • Trainer: Ein
  • Location: Shadow Pokémon Lab.
  • Strategy: Another Legendary! Raikou is incredibly fast and hits hard with Electric-type moves. Ground-type Pokémon are immune to Electric attacks and can deal super effective damage. Paralyze or put it to sleep, then chip away its health.

Realgam Tower

The final stronghold, teeming with powerful Shadow Pokémon.

• Shadow Tyranitar (Level 50):
  • Trainer: Nascour
  • Location: Realgam Tower.
  • Strategy: Tyranitar is a beast! Its Sand Stream ability will damage your non-Rock, Ground, or Steel Pokémon every turn. Bring Water, Grass, Fighting, or Ground-type Pokémon. This will be a tough snag; prepare for a long battle and use your best Poké Balls.
• Shadow Suicune (Level 40):
  • Trainer: Evice
  • Location: Realgam Tower.
  • Strategy: The final Legendary Beast. Suicune has high defenses. Electric or Grass-type moves are super effective. Focus on status conditions and whittling down its HP carefully.

  • Strategy: Shuckle has incredibly high Defense and Special Defense, but very low HP. Be extremely careful not to accidentally knock it out. Use False Swipe and status conditions.
• Shadow Smeargle (Level 50):
  • Trainer: Shadow Pokémon Lab Scientist
  • Location: Shadow Pokémon Lab, after completing the main story.
  • Strategy: Smeargle can Sketch any move, making it unpredictable. Weaken it carefully.
