Post-Game Story & Sevii Islands Quests
Congratulations, Trainer! Defeating the Elite Four and becoming the Champion of Kanto is a monumental achievement, but your journey is far from over. The true post-game adventure begins now, with the unlocking of the enigmatic Sevii Islands. These seven islands hold new challenges, rare Pokémon, and crucial plot developments that expand the world of FireRed and LeafGreen.
Initial Sevii Islands Access
After your triumphant return from the Elite Four, Professor Oak will be waiting for you in Pallet Town. He'll congratulate you and then direct you to his lab. Here, he'll upgrade your Pokédex to the National Dex, allowing you to register Pokémon from beyond the original 150. Crucially, he'll also give you the National Dex and the Tri-Pass, which grants access to the first three Sevii Islands.
Next, head to Vermilion City. Bill will be waiting at the docks, eager to take you to One Island. This marks the official start of your Sevii Islands exploration.
Island One: Kindle Road & Mt. Ember
Upon arriving at One Island, Bill will introduce you to Celio, a friend of his who is working on a machine to link the Sevii Islands with other regions. He needs your help to find two specific items. Your first task is to retrieve the Ruby.
- Heal Up: Before venturing out, heal your Pokémon at the Pokémon Center.
- Kindle Road: Head north from the town onto Kindle Road. This area features new trainers and wild Pokémon.
- Ember Spa: Follow Kindle Road until you reach the Ember Spa. Inside, you can heal your Pokémon for free by stepping into the hot spring. Talk to the old man here to receive HM06 (Rock Smash).
- Mt. Ember: Continue north from the Ember Spa to Mt. Ember. You'll need a Pokémon with Rock Smash to clear some paths. Navigate through the caves, battling Team Rocket Grunts along the way.
- Ruby Location: The Ruby is located deep within Mt. Ember, guarded by two Team Rocket Grunts. Defeat them to claim the Ruby.
- Return to Celio: Bring the Ruby back to Celio in the One Island Pokémon Center. He'll be thrilled and ask for your help with the second item.
Island Two: Cape Brink & Bond Bridge
With the Ruby delivered, Celio will now allow you to travel to Two Island and Three Island using the ferry. Your next objective is to find the missing girl, Lostelle.
- Travel to Two Island: Take the ferry from One Island to Two Island.
- Game Corner: Explore the small town on Two Island. You'll find a Game Corner here, but it's not operational yet.
- Cape Brink: Head east from the town onto Cape Brink.
- Lostelle's Location: Continue east across Bond Bridge to Three Island. Lostelle is being harassed by a biker gang. Engage them in battle.
- Biker Gang Battle: You'll face multiple trainers from the biker gang. Their Pokémon are typically around Level 30-35. A well-rounded team should handle them easily.
- Rescue Lostelle: After defeating the bikers, Lostelle will be safe. She'll thank you and return to Two Island.
- Return to Two Island: Follow Lostelle back to Two Island. Her father will reward you with a Full Restore.
Island Three: Berry Forest
While on Three Island to rescue Lostelle, you can also explore the Berry Forest.
- Berry Forest Exploration: This forest is home to various wild Pokémon and hidden items. Use your Itemfinder to locate some valuable berries and other treasures.
- Trainer Battles: Expect to encounter several trainers within the forest.
Continuing the Sevii Islands Quest: The Sapphire
After helping Celio with the Ruby and rescuing Lostelle, your next major objective is to find the Sapphire. This will require further exploration of the Sevii Islands, specifically Islands Four through Seven, which become accessible after a certain point.
- Bill's Request: After you've delivered the Ruby to Celio, Bill will eventually contact you again, indicating that he's made progress on the machine but still needs the Sapphire.
- Rocket Warehouse: You'll receive a message about Team Rocket activity on Five Island. Travel there and locate the Rocket Warehouse.
- Password Collection: To enter the Warehouse, you'll need two passwords.
- First Password: Head to Six Island. Navigate through the Ruin Valley and enter the Dotted Hole. Solve the puzzle by falling through the holes in a specific order: Up, Left, Down, Right. This will lead you to the Sapphire. However, a Team Rocket Grunt will steal it from you and reveal the first password.
- Second Password: Return to Five Island. You'll find another Team Rocket Grunt on Five Isle Meadow who will reveal the second password after you defeat them.
- Infiltrate Rocket Warehouse: With both passwords, you can now enter the Rocket Warehouse on Five Island. Battle your way through the grunts and trainers.
- Admin Battle: You'll eventually confront a Team Rocket Admin (Archer in FireRed, Ariana in LeafGreen). Defeat them to retrieve the Sapphire.
- Return to Celio: Bring the Sapphire back to Celio on One Island. With both gems, he can fully activate the machine, allowing for trading with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald versions and unlocking the remaining Sevii Islands.
Further Sevii Islands Exploration
With the machine fully operational, the remaining Sevii Islands are now open for exploration, offering new challenges and legendary Pokémon.
- Island Four: Home to the Day Care Center, where you can breed Pokémon. Also features Icefall Cave, where you can find Lorelei and the legendary Pokémon Articuno (after defeating the Elite Four a second time).
- Island Five: Contains Five Isle Meadow, Memorial Pillar, and Water Labyrinth. Useful for finding various items and training.
- Island Six: Features Ruin Valley and the Dotted Hole (where you found the Sapphire). Also has Altering Cave, which can contain different Pokémon depending on special events.
- Island Seven: Home to Trainer Tower, a challenging battle facility, and Canyon Entrance, which leads to the Tanoby Ruins, where you can catch Unown.
The Sevii Islands offer a wealth of content for the dedicated trainer, from completing your National Pokédex to challenging powerful new opponents. Good luck, Champion!
