Frenzied Noble Kleavor
Kleavor, the Axe Pokémon, is the first Frenzied Noble you'll encounter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, serving as a crucial early-game boss fight. Located in the Obsidian Fieldlands, Kleavor's rage makes it a formidable opponent. Successfully calming it is vital for your progress and the safety of the region.
This battle introduces the unique mechanics of Frenzied Noble Pokémon. You'll need to master both dodging and strategic balm-throwing, followed by a traditional Pokémon battle. Understanding Kleavor's attack patterns and exploiting its weaknesses are key to overcoming this challenge.
Phase 1: Dodging and Balm Throwing
In the initial phase, you'll be on the ground, facing a rampaging Kleavor. Your primary objective is to avoid its powerful axe attacks and throw Balms at it. Kleavor will charge, swing its axes, and unleash seismic waves. Learn to recognize the tells for each attack.
Use the dodge button ('B') liberally to evade its strikes. After Kleavor finishes an attack combo, there will be a brief window where you can safely throw balms. You can craft these balms at base camps using materials like Oran Berries and Spoiled Sushi. Aim to hit Kleavor with enough balms to stun it. This will create an opening to send out your own Pokémon.
Phase 2: Pokémon Battle
Once Kleavor is stunned, send out your strongest Pokémon. Kleavor is a Bug/Rock type. Therefore, Pokémon with strong Water, Rock, or Steel-type moves will be highly effective. Consider Pokémon like Shinx, Starly, or Bidoof, which are available early in the game and can learn useful moves.
Focus on dealing as much damage as possible while Kleavor is vulnerable. However, be prepared for it to recover from its stunned state. If it does, you'll be forced back into the dodging and balm-throwing phase. The cycle of stunning and battling continues until Kleavor's health is depleted.
Key Strategies for Kleavor:
- Balm Supply: Always carry a large stack of balms. Craft them whenever you're at a base camp.
- Kleavor's Attacks:
- Charge: Kleavor rushes forward. Dodge to the side.
- Axe Swing: A wide, sweeping attack. Dodge backwards or to the side.
- Seismic Wave: Kleavor slams its axes into the ground, creating a shockwave. Jump over the wave or dodge away.
- Type Advantage: Prioritize Water, Rock, and Steel-type attacks.
- Team Composition: Include Pokémon that can resist Kleavor's attacks and deal super-effective damage.
Don't get discouraged if you get hit. The key is to learn from each attempt, refine your dodging, and capitalize on every opportunity to attack. Successfully calming Kleavor is a significant achievement and unlocks new areas and abilities.
