Viridian City & Route 2

Your journey commences in Viridian City, the first major settlement you'll encounter. Here, you'll find the essential Pokémon Center, where you can fully heal your team, and a Poké Mart, stocked with vital supplies like Potions and Poké Balls. It's highly recommended to replenish your stock of Potions before venturing further. You'll also notice the Viridian City Gym, but its Leader is currently absent, making it impossible to challenge at this stage. After attending to your needs in Viridian City, you'll head north onto Route 2. This route is relatively straightforward, acting as a direct passage to Viridian Forest. Be prepared for the trainers who inhabit Route 2; they are eager to test their skills against newcomers and will likely have Pokémon that are slightly stronger than those found in Pallet Town. Wild Pokémon on Route 2 include common species like Rattata and Spearow, offering further opportunities to practice catching and to strengthen your team. Viridian Forest is the next significant area, a dense woodland teeming with wild Pokémon and trainers. It's advisable to ensure your Pokémon are at a decent level before entering, as the trainers within the forest can be quite challenging. The forest is also home to Bug-type Pokémon, such as Caterpie and Weedle, which are relatively easy to catch and can be useful for early-game battles. Navigating Viridian Forest requires careful attention to the winding paths, and you'll encounter several trainers who will engage you in battle. Successfully traversing Route 2 and Viridian Forest will lead you towards Pewter City, the location of the first Gym Leader you can challenge.
