This section will detail how to successfully thieve from Kecleon and what to expect.

Understanding the Risks

Attempting to steal from Kecleon is not for the faint of heart. Once you pick up an item and leave the shop tile without paying, Kecleon will become hostile. Not only will the Kecleon in the shop attack you, but an army of incredibly powerful Kecleon will spawn on every floor of the dungeon, relentlessly pursuing your team. These Kecleon are significantly stronger than regular dungeon Pokémon and can easily wipe out an unprepared team. Be warned: if your team is defeated after thieving, you will lose all items and money, just like any other dungeon defeat.

Preparation is Key

Before you even consider thieving, thorough preparation is paramount. The goal is to grab items and escape the dungeon as quickly as possible.

• Escape Orb: This is absolutely essential. An Escape Orb allows you to instantly leave the dungeon. Without it, your chances of survival are astronomically low. Bring at least one, preferably two, just in case.
• High Mobility: Pokémon with high movement speed or moves that increase mobility are highly recommended. Moves like Quick Attack or abilities that boost speed can be invaluable for dodging Kecleon.
• Warp Scarf/Warp Seed: A Warp Scarf equipped on your leader can randomly warp them away from danger. Warp Seeds can be used on yourself or thrown at Kecleon to temporarily remove them from the immediate vicinity.
• Status-Inflicting Items: Sleep Seeds, Stun Seeds, or Confuse Seeds can buy you precious turns by incapacitating Kecleon.
• Reviver Seeds: Always bring Reviver Seeds. Even with the best strategy, things can go wrong.
• Strong Attackers (Optional): While fighting Kecleon is generally ill-advised, if you must engage, strong attackers with wide-area moves might be able to clear a path. However, this is a last resort.

The Thieving Process: Step-by-Step

Follow these steps carefully to maximize your chances of a successful heist:

1. Locate a Kecleon Shop: Kecleon Shops appear randomly in dungeons. When you find one, scout the layout of the shop and the surrounding floor.
2. Identify Target Items: Look for rare or expensive items that are worth the risk. TMs, Rare Quality items, Gummis, and Max Elixirs are often good targets.
3. Position Your Team:
   • Set your team's tactics to "Wait for Me" or "Go the Other Way" to prevent them from wandering off and engaging Kecleon prematurely.
   • Position your leader as close to the shop exit as possible, ideally on a tile adjacent to the exit.
   • Have your other team members wait a few tiles away from the shop entrance, ready to move.
4. Grab the Items:
   • Walk onto the item you wish to steal.
   • Press 'A' to pick up the item. Do NOT press 'A' again to pay.
   • Repeat for any other items you want, but be mindful of your inventory space.
5. Make Your Escape:
   • Once you have all desired items, immediately move off the shop tile. This is the trigger for Kecleon to become hostile.
   • As soon as Kecleon turns red and the "Kecleon is angry!" message appears, use your Escape Orb without delay.
   • If you cannot use an Escape Orb immediately (e.g., due to being surrounded), use a Warp Seed or Sleep Seed on the closest Kecleon to create an opening, then use the Escape Orb.

Post-Thieving Strategy

If for some reason you cannot use an Escape Orb immediately after stealing, you are in for a brutal fight for survival:

• Run, Don't Fight: Your primary objective is to find the stairs to the next floor. Do not attempt to fight the Kecleon unless absolutely necessary. They are incredibly strong and will quickly overwhelm your team.
• Use Status Items: Throw Sleep Seeds or Stun Seeds at any Kecleon blocking your path to create openings.
• Warp Away: If you have a Warp Scarf equipped, pray for a lucky warp. If you have Warp Seeds, use them on yourself or throw them at Kecleon.
• Prioritize Your Leader: If your leader is defeated, the mission fails. Protect them at all costs.
• Stairs are Your Friend: Once you reach the next floor, the pursuing Kecleon from the previous floor will despawn, but new ones will spawn on the current floor. Your goal is to reach the final floor and exit the dungeon.
